The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Perhaps then, the color is part of the price tag. I don't think I've every seen an Arab other than black, bay, chestnut, and grey of various shades.

I'm suspicious of that kind of add also. Could mean the 12yr old rides her bareback while she is being lead to and from pasture. :)

Many start Arabs later, they are slow maturing and usually not ready till 4 maybe 5. But they've put her off longer than they needed to.

She's striking, if lightly built, looks mostly Egyptian in type. The desert types are built light.

They'd say Western pleasure prospect because they're marketing for show and she doesn't have the size or park action to go English Pleasure. That's all that means.

My great niece asked if she could ride on the next endurance ride :) She hasn't been out of the round pen yet. She was a little put out when I said she could when she could ride to the grocery store and back (11 miles one way).

She struck me as endurance material - something about the way she's built I guess. I wouldn't peg her for show, not typey enough maybe.

Also, the color probably influenced me. I always assume buckskins are hardy and good for the long haul :)

Probably she would. And the horse would carry her all the way with no direction and no problem if her mom was riding along with her. I'd just like her to know a little bit more about what's she's doing, and learn to feel the horse so she can rate it.

Oh, I agree she probably isn't ready to go yet, but you know, kids always come thru.

She looks good for endurance to me too.... I'd put more weight on her to show. She's OK, though we don't know how tall she is.

I wonder if Ruthy knows that if she posts prospects here everyone takes turns picking them apart!

Ruthy, just so you know, everyone here is a critic!

And she's too green for you. :~D

It makes him look wild eyed , like he's about to shy IMO.
That's what they want it to look like. It's fashion. Makes no sense, but does fashion ever make sense? :-)

Why is it that the post drops in very quickly when you try to stop it to correct a word/spelling error? : ) Then other times you have to work at shoving and pushing to get that post in! LOL
