I'm back. Rusty is really doing well. I took him to one of the few trails that is nice and smooth and not rocky and trotted him for a pretty long distance and he seemed fine. No lock ups. I feel certain his stifle problem is taken care of.
He had a gone splash in the creek:). He loves the creek, or any water for that matter.
Becky
I'm noticing that we are having problems again with posts showing up:). I'm not really in a hurry for you to see the above one, just seeing if a push helps:)
Becky
The push helps! I've been noticing it too.
Good to hear about Rusty, I hope you can have a good patch with him, so that you can get to the point where you don't look at him and only see problems, whether you keep or sell him.
How about Harley? How are his scrapes doing?
They are getting better. But yesterday I did notice the worst bite mark on his back had that scab pulled off and looked rather pink and tender. Like it got pull off to early. Probably rubbed it off rolling. I don't think I have to let it heal to the point of hair growing back on it, but I don't think I should put a saddle on it with it looking a bit raw. So it will probably be at least another week. The rest of him looks fine, even the one on his leg.
Becky
Glad he's got good progress toward healing... Those scabs itch. I think the process of healing itches.... wouldn't surprise me that he tries to roll and itch them off. I agree on when it'd be OK to ride again. When there's new skin there and it's not tender anymore, he'd be OK.
Remember how Bay took that bite out of Cyn when she was here on trial period? We saddled her up when there was no more welt under it, but I still worried that it was too soon. If we were checking her for safety with ecurbh, I sure didn't want pain under the saddle to create problems... But it didn't.
Yeah, you can sure create a problem if they hurt under saddle, even when you get the hurt fixed.
I bet Bay will be fine when Sweetie leaves tomorrow, once she's out of sight. I use to worry when I'd leave one here by themselves, but Mack has been around enough times to observe and says they are always fine 2 minutes after I'm gone.

It's beautiful! I love the arbor. This is a tough time of year for gardens.... a lot of the spring plantings have grown leggy and tired, and moving them around, cutting them back and moving some new things in will give it a second life now for the late summer.
Heh.... I never planted one flower this year. ~sigh~
Wow!! You have quite the green thumb. The vines over your arch are gorgeous and did I notice some landscape lights? I bet it's beautiful at night. How do you keep it so weed free?
Well thank you:). I still don't think it's as pretty as it was last year.
The morning glories on the arbor are still not making many flowers, not as many as in past years. And in the past I had them on the fence too, Next year I will put some on the fence on one side anyway. But I'd really like to try clementis on the arbor. You ever have any of that??? I'd like to know how thick it gets.
The lights are just those sun charged lights, they don't do alot of lighting. I tried hanging spot lights in the eves of the house shining down but they didn't work well either. My problem is we have a security night light on a telephone pole right outside the fence. With the light that it shines in, it kind of drowned out the spot lights and they lost their effectiveness.
Becky
Oh, and I keep it weed free by weeding it every day:). If you do it everyday it's not that big of deal. I drink my coffee every morning out there, it's shady and cool, and I walk around seeing how everything grew, and pull the weeds and grass that start. Takes about 2 minutes. But right now it;s in really good shape because I have been working alot in it the last few days.
Becky
The scrape on Harleys back
The one on his leg.
Becky
I agree his leg looks great! ...and that the scrape on his side still looks tender.
Boy, Rusty looks pretty all saddled up.
I better go mow before it gets hotter. It's 69 on it's way to 90.
Be careful, honey. Be sure to take plenty of water out there with you.
Thanks:)
That looney lady just called. I'll try to keep this short:)
Her buying this horse is now dependent on if her 20 year old daughter likes him. She is going to bring the daughter out tomorrow to ride in the arena, I can't go trail riding tomorrow as I will have JP. She said if the daughter likes him, she'll take him. She also said she is seriously considering taking him regardless, because she likes him.....
The biggest problem is her "best" friend:) brought her a horse to try this past weekend. The daugher fell in love with this horse and really wants him and is probably not going to be happy with anything else. What happened tho is, now the best friend is saying the horse isn't for sale....As dingy as this lady sounds, and knowing there is two sides to every story, I'm not sure what happened there. All I know is last week the daughter was not part of the picture at all. She just wanted a horse that she could ride when her husband wanted to go with her. She only wants to ride a couple of times a week for a couple of hours. That's why I thought this would be a great place for Rusty to go. Now because this daughter showed up this weekend and decided she wants to ride, mom is trying to make her happy too....
Becky
You can tell from the dirt stuck in the hair around the scrapes that the medicine I use kind of makes a mess, but I have been very happy at how well cuts heal using this stuff.
Becky
Same place. Only game in town besides my back yard.
Your garden's pretty Becky. Mine's beginning to look all grown out and used up. I've been pulling stuff up too, mostly out of pots since I mainly container garden. My marigolds have gotten too big and are starting to flop over and split. I need to get some new ones and just start over. It looks like you have some of the yellow ones in your garden. I like those. I have some really beautiful Caladiums now, but it's about time for them to start playing out. I hate it, but it's almost time for mums to start showing up in garden centers, so I'll replace the caladiums with those.
Whew... mowed a tank of gas worth... I'm ~probably~ done now for the day unless I get motivated to go out again late when the shade returns to the pasture.
It looks so good mowed it's hard to stop though. I've gotten enough mowed now that I can see the difference from the house and I hate looking at the part that's undone.
Well, it's supposed to cool off a bit after today. Best not to overdo it in this heat.
