The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well I'm glad to hear it. He saved the tax payers alot of money and gave the molester what he so justly deserved, although it might have been better to let him go to prison (unless some sleazy lawyer got him off on a technicality, which happens way too often) and become some goon's girlfriend. But then again, he might have liked that, so bullet in the head was better.

There's no mournful wailing in this video... I never seemed to be filming when that happened... but the filly has settled down a lot, barely flinching when they lunged at her again.

Only one to get a new mark on her today is Cyn... Bay put some teeth marks on her butt... but nothing major.

The guy deserved to die, no doubt about it. On this special, they asked the dad if he regretted killing the molester and he said no, he would do it all again the same way.

They also had the molesters brother on this special, and he was saying that his brother deserved a fair trial just like anybody else. I think the dad should have shot him, too, just for being so damn dumb.

Sure looks like a pretty day there. The horses are all so pretty but my heart belongs to Pony.

I'm going to get my husband to teach me how to post those videos. Is it difficult?

Rose when you and Deaconjim are moved and settled in I will be happy to send you the names of some excellent folks to ride and share love of horses with. I hope to be up this fall but I went up on a three-week jaunt this June to go to two family reunions and a wedding and I don't know if I canmake two trips in one year but I might.

If I do I will look you up! But will put you in contact with wonderful horse people.

Must go for the eveing. My neighbors have a giant part-percheron appaloosa that weights about 1700 lbs. and he needs riding. I will try to get a picture. He's a beauty. The lady isn't well (diabetes, blood pressure) and her husband is also elderly and I said I would ride this great creature.

He's gentle.

See y'all tomorrow.

It's not hard.... because ~my~ husband made me an upload tool where all I have to do is drag and drop it. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how.

but she'll let them drive around in cars with teenagers,

I once had to help pull the bodies of three teenage girls from a car they had wrapped around a tree on the way home from school. The youngest one had always ridden the bus never been allowed to ride home with anyone before.
I can tell you that I will never get that scene out of my mind.

Oh boy. I'm so sorry you have to live your life with that memory. Accidents like that effect so many more people than just the victims and their families.

It had a big effect on the whole county, but I'm afraid a lot of people have forgotten it.

My kids will probably hate me at times, but so be it. I can see those girls as clearly today as I did back then.

Well, if nothing else, you've reminded everyone here to think about it before letting their kids get in a car with a teen driver.

My oldest daughter is the only one that will ask to ride around with friends and we always say no. I think she understands but I'm going to print out your posts and tape them on the fridge. If she ever starts to argue with me, all I have to do is point.

Hey, anyone around. I'm back from the playday. Here's some pictures.

Blake and his cousin Alyessa on thier horse Big. Jenny and Travis bought this horse for Travis a couple of years ago, but she has become the kids horse. She's rather old, and Travis feels bad riding her. The horse the kids were using is even older, and is now haveing trouble with arthritis, so I believe they retired him. Blake actually does better on him, and Alyessa on Big. She gets to ride more often then Blake. I hate seeing them both compete on her, plus they lead line her little brother on her too. But they don't have much choice.

Alyessa second barrel.

Blakes second barrel and run home.

Jenny's sister in law leading lining Payson, her 2 year old on flags.

Blakes flag run.

A few of the other horses. This poor thing looked very pregnant too me, and the kid just kept running her around the barrels over and over....

And this little girl was so tiny on this big horse. She was lead lined, and the leader would get the horse trotting and she hung on like a champ:) She waved the flag at the crowd when she did her flag run.

That play day looks like tons of fun! Boy, kids are hardy aren't they? Great pictures, thanks.

Heh... our crew is so screwed up they couldn't figure out how to have dinner. Bay wouldn't come to the gate to be fed, Cyn and the pony ran around not knowing how to make anything happen either, and then when we got them fed, the pony snuck in at Cyn's bucket with Cyn, and Cyn allowed it. The whole order of the universe has been disturbed by adding one new horse.

I feel bad for the filly out in the back forty alone tonight, but she seems quiet now and I placed all their hay fairly close to her so hopefully she'll feel like she has some friends.

They are so funny about stuff like that and it takes them 3 or 4 days to get used to it. They'll just be getting everything worked out about the time the new horse leaves. When I moved Grace and Hope in with Tennessee, Blade and Bob, there was total chaos at feeding time for several days. Everybody had to go see if they could get by with eating out of somebody else's bucket so I had to be the bucket police until they figured out that they couldn't.
