The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Goood evening! Just back from eating a *really* good steak. The meeting turned out to be pretty good. I ran into a couple of people I've been meaning to track down and got to chat with them. I also networked a bit, learned a few things, and had Vietnamese food for lunch.

I'm tempted to play hookey tomorrow afternoon and go to Six-Flags. :)

Ehhh. If I could find someone willing to hire me here in my new state, it'd be better.

But other than that...life is good.

Wassup freaky chicken. I tried to call you today, but I guess you were still at work. I'm thinking of entering a half marathon. Wanna run it with me?

Seriesly.

It's not bad to be unemployed for a while either. I'll send employment vibes your way ;-)

Yeah, I thought that was just great ;-)

But then, I've got a firewall; my Norton updates are current; and I'm not running an unpatched system.

I tried calling you back on the way home from work, but I got a busy signal. :-/

And my butt wouldn't last 5 minutes in any kind of marathon!

Wanna go trail riding with me? *evil smile*

I'm loving this hotel room. I can *see* the coasters and I can hear people screaming (happily). I think my group should hold meetings here more often. And the shopping is muy bueno. I scouted out a couple western wear/boot shops. I'm definately going to have to budget for my next trip out. ('cuz you just can't buy that stuff in MD!)

Thanks, trini!

Half marathon? Yikes...the longest race I ever ran, back when I was in semi-decent shape, was a 5k. I finished, which was all I intended. Dunno my rank, even. ;-)

You should come to Miami to recuperate.

funny you should mention that. My boss thinks I should go out and visit some offices. ALL over.

Yeah I probably would go trail riding. But you don't just decide to do a half marathon one day and run it the next. You have to train for it. Come run it with me. It's not til January. We'd both be starting from scratch. I have to work my way back up to a 5K anyway.

Yeah I just wanna finish too. I guess I just wanna do it to feel like I've accomplished it. The next thing I'm considering is a triathlon. That doesn't seem too bad in theory. I will ponder it while I munch on some chocolate brownie ice cream...
