And I think instructive about people pretending to be what they are not.

Well, I don't know if he left a family or not, but it does show greed personified -- but not by a very smart man.

Perhaps he thought that he would never be caught and he was not prepared for the consequences.

Not to equate the level of the crime, but I remember when we were kids and we would be involved in the planning of some nefarious deed that we knew would draw the wrath of the adults, we always weighed the level of punishement we may receive against the "glory" of the deed. Most of the time I came to the conclusion the deed was not worth it and left the candy and soda thieves to their business.

Of course there was that time that old man Dvorak's house was TP'd ... but the felon was never apprehended. Neither was the rapscallion caught who ... ah ... well that's really off topic and it would really take a long time to explain how the Roman Candles, flower pots, and road flares were carefully taken apart, combined in a certain way with some "things" from under the sink; how the cherry bomb was used to touch the whole thing off, and the effects caused to that garbage can ... MAN did that lid sail!!

Ahem ... But you must have had quite an intersting time inheriting that mess and taking care of business. I hope your successor continued in your tradition. It will be interesting to read your story.

The deal is, sir, people who cheat since Time Immemorial have been the basis for most of human humor.

Like the old jokes about the city slicker trying to outwit the country farmer; those sorts of things.

No, he didn't leave a family or kids or anything, and the larger tragedy of it was that he was very smart and should've used those talents in other ways.

He did however leave a lot of people in the lurch.

I suppose the story is in the deep archives (from January-March 2002) of the Lincoln Journal-Star and Omaha World-Herald web-sites, but I haven't looked at those old news stories for more than three years now.

People who cheat ultimately cheat themselves.

I'm not sure who's writing it--I have a vague idea, based upon vocabularial analysis, but that is an art, not a science--and apparently there's still two more parts to come.

Impressive job, the truthteller.

Remember, I just own the real-estate, and others run it.

You own a mighty fine piece of real estate there Frank! With only one more installment to go, I'm on the edge of my seat.

Something's in the air and I just feel like this is getting closer and closer to the grand finale.

Truth Teller (whomever you are and I hope you're reading this thread and taking your silent bows)---awesome work!

The Scamdy site was probably something not very well explained to George Howland of the Seattle Weekly.

Scamdy was started by someone else, and operated by someone else, but you remember that malcontents found something in it offensive, and managed to get it shut down two times.

There was nothing offensive in the original Scamdy, but the malcontents made such a fuss about it, and the original owners had to deal with attorneys and some yelling-and-screaming.

And this is where I came in.

Unlike most people in Free Republic, in the DUmmie FUnnies, in the other conservative web-site, in DUmmieland, I live in a small place, which has both advantages and disadvantages.

If I need to see my attorney, all I have to do is hop in the automobile, and circa twelve minutes later, I'm in his office.....or more usually, having a cup of coffee with him in a mom-and-pop Hispanic restaurant.

Most everybody else, when seeing an attorney, has to deal with telephone calls, two weeks or something to get into the schedule, and big bucks.

The first time Scamdy got shut down by the cartoon character, I went to see my attorney, who gave me much useful advice, but who could do nothing, because I had no "interest" or ownership in Scamdy.

So, after the second round of problems with Scamdy, I decided I should get an "interest" in Scamdy, so if the cartoon character kept his bawling and whining, my own attorney could do something about it.

It seems to me an eminently sensible arrangement.

So I own the real-estate, and if there are problems, my man can take care of it, because those problems are my problems.

Other people of course run it, because I know no more about web-sites than the Head Warden "Skinner" knows about history or economics. Knowing web-sites has never been of any particular interest to me, just as, obviously, history or economics has never stirred the Head Warden "Skinner."

I am not 100% sure how this situation is going to turn out although it sure smells to high heaven. 'The facts' of this fundraiser just seem to change too much on a whim for me to believe that it is on the up and up.

But I do know one thing for sure!

I don't wnat to mess with franksolich!!!!!!!!

Even though I heartily disagree with him on the marking a paper ballot with a pencil, I am going to keep my trap shut....

Oh, come on now.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers, once the terror of America, have been history since the then-winningest coach in college football, Frank Solich, was fired.

There is no going back, and the University of Ohio has gotten a valuable man, a man of integrity and solidity and principles--our loss, their gain, and one wishes the University of Ohio and their new head football coach, one of the very best men in America, well.

As for this other stuff, I've just been the "cheerleader," goading on other people who've done a lot of work--a Hades of a lot of work--and who deserve full recognition and fulsome praise after it is all over; members of the DUmmie FUnnies, members of the other conservative web-site, members of democraticunderground.

Me? My own real work wouldn't fill half a paragraph--so save the applause, sir, for the real people, the people who did all this work, when the last chapter is done, the whole story can be told, and identities revealed.

If I owned some sort of investigative agency, or public relations firm, or advertising agency, I wouldn't be able to afford to pay these people what they're worth.

Alas, poor Pitt seems to be receiving a bit of "backlash" himself if recent threads at DU are any indication. Note this predictably "pensive" Pitt post "Interesting Times"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4029283&mesg_id=4029283

But Pitt seems to have fallen out of favor in Andyite controlled DUmmieland, if you look at who is posting on his thread (which isn't too many DUmmies anyway).

Well, at least he has VelmaD.

Maybe ten thousand times in the last few years, someone has stated with profound assurance that the Bush administration is in trouble, that the hammer is coming down, that some form of accountability is in the offing. Maybe ten thousand times, these predictions have turned out to be wrong. Nowadays, it takes a special kind of fool to think this White House can be easily cashiered for its gross violations, lies and flat-out crimes.

Pitt sures knows his audience.

Why did this read like a particularly wordy Larry King column, minus the elipses?

Yeah, I saw that.

Telegrams used to be a dime a dozen, back when long-distance telephone calls were really expensive.

But now they're so rare they're used for only very special messages.

Did anyone catch the update on Andythanksyou.com regarding an update on his condition. This afternoon there was an update dated 7/7/05 stating Andy was in critical condition with his family by his side.
I just went by to check it and IT DISAPPEARED!!!

Did anyone else catch it? I think BB also changed the earlier update with a little difference in details but I am not sure.
I am sure that it stated he was in CRITICAL CONDITION With his family by his side.
