Hello FR music fans. A light hearted thread for FReepers to discuss what music they have been listening to lately (old and new). It might be cool to be exposed to new music or old music that others might not have heard. Since I don't have a life, I'm home on a Saturday night listening to my local rock station (WRIF -Detroit).
That album is one of my favorite Bowie albums other than Scary Monsters. Modern Love, Cat People, China Girl--just great songs, and it came out when I was a freshman in high school. Memories of good times with that one.
Is "Smile" really that good? I have "Pet Sounds" and I LOVE it!
I know---that is why I like it..
I also listen to music when I clean house...
I like to listen to songs like (don't laugh) Cindy Lauper, "Girls just wanna have fun", when I clean!!
And I like the Eurythimic when I clean, and Queen!
But, when I am "listening" I like the songs like "At this Moment" and "Crying" by kd lang
Yep, Karen Carpenter and Patsy Cline had voices that will never be duplicated............never!
Also--all the Johnny Cash stuff he did at the end with Rick Rubin.
Today's kids tend to think that CDs, VCRs, PCs, and other technological gadgets have been with us for a long time. LOL!
Now, I think I'm gonna listen to some 45s.
I love that album!
Cult's Love is great. Very different, but also good, are Electric and Sonic Temple.
My favorite of k.d.'s is "Constant Craving". She's such a good singer. There ain't nuttin' wrong with Queen and Cyndi Lauper either....*~*. If I wanna really get up a "workin' sweat", "Would I Lie To You" by Eurythmics is just fine. LOL
CHEAP TRICK!!!
One of my all-time favorite bands. I've seen them 7 or 8 times in concert.
VH, Sabbath, Skynrd, KISS, Zep, SRV, Johnny Lang...are you sure you and I aren't related?
When Phil Collins took the helm, the band really became accessable and more user friendly. Purists might say that's when the band sold out, but I think they put out some really great stuff. I even like stuff off their Invisible Touch album (college era for me...) Good memories to those songs.
The Manhattan Transfer was in Dallas last Saturday night...I've only seen them perform twice; once in 1983, with a full big band, and last Saturday night.
They had a drummer, an upright bassist, and a pianist and that's all.
They blew everyone away. Period. Honestly, they sang and performed BETTER now than they did back in 1983. (my opinion, of course)
After 32 years of singing close 4 part harmony in performing Swing, DooWop, and Standards..the Transfer is STILL one of the greatest singing groups ever - and yes.. VOCALESE has to be one of their best albums.
That's King Crimson? I never really got into them, but I liked Adrien Belou's solo work.
I have "Would I lie to you", "Sweet Dreams", and "Total Ecllipse of the Heart" on my homemade Cd!
Lately have been listening to the soundtrack of Beyond the Sea, with Kevin Spacey doing a fabulous job singing the songs of Bobby Darin. Saw Spacey's live tribute show last December, and listening to the CD am re-amazed.
"Let there be Rock" and "High Voltage" - AC/DC
I've got this one close by as well but most of my discs are anything done by Rush. Prog isn't what it used to be but there are still a few good bands around making it. To me, Rush is the cream of that crop.
Nope, it was Genisis.
