The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I think a thread couldn't hurt, though something more easily seen than that would be nice eventually.

Well, the yellow face showed up this morning. Haven't seen him for a couple of days! Mama turkey and the poults were back this morning. It's a lovely day, I just haven't been out in it yet. We were waiting for the Dish Network guy, and he left just a few minutes ago.
I'd been working on the plan this morning cause we made yet another change. That's ok, we're making it work better for us. We're working in the garage this afternoon, finishing up the radiant barrier and getting set to start building the deck out back of the garage. SSQ didn't even turn on the A/C because he said it would get TOO cool! COOL!

What I may end up doing is moving the non-knife stuff (Flat Frodo, entmoot albums, etc.) to 'www.the-hobbit-hole.net', and focus the 'freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net' subdomain on our troop stuff, since that is what is being advertised by the engraving.

I'm just thinkin' outloud, and thinkin' we may want to consider other ways to raise support for this...Has the Freeper Canteen been contacted?

to get the real hurricane experience you have to listen to the wind howl and the trees crack and stay up all night wondering if a tree is going to fall on your house.Been there, done that; Camille, 1969

Anyone wanna help me brainstorm?
The young adults group at church is doing an ice cream party in a week or so, and I'm supposedly coordinating who's bringing what. The ice cream will be provided - we just have to bring toppings. I figured I'd make a list of suggestions and right down names as people call to confirm they're coming. Here's what I have so far:
Chocolate sauce
Caramel sauce
Strawberry sauce
Crushed Oreos
M&Ms
Walnuts
Bananas
Can you think of anything else that'd be good?

Fitness hobbit micro moot!
We met up with Penny on her Seattle to Portland ride... She got a very early start and was actually ahead of most of the other riders... there are thousands, in all, who ride this 206 mile bike ride.
We waited for her in Tenino, about 86 miles into the trip. The dogs came along for the ride ;~D

We chatted with her while she has a sammich and an espresso...

And then she was off again!

To: RosieCotton
For chocolate sauce, I like the Magic Shell kind that hardens ;~D
To: HairOfTheDog
Mmmm...maybe I should put both kinds on the list! Can't have too much chocolate, I'm thinkin'...

I thought it might be from an event. I like it - purty!

Oh - we had a tragedy this morning.... One of the little red squirrels I like so much because they are so personable...

Drowned in our horse water....

Poor thing.... I hadn't seen them ever trying to drink from the big buckets, I leave other water out for them in a small bucket... I wish I'd have been able to know he fell in there! The water level was down too far for him to crawl out. Not wanting that to happen again, I put a rope in the trough so they always have a way out.
