The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, but I can't help getting caught up in all the pageantry and hoopla. It's the event planner in me.

And it's what I still miss doing.

There are maybe a handful of events that I actually enjoy watching, but I could never get into the Olympics.

Maybe it's because I'm exercise-phobic. *grin*

Is that a cheat sheet in yer shirt or are ya happy to see me?

Speaking of algebra. Back in the day, we had a cheerleader in our class who always seemed to wear a skirt on test days. She had answers written on her thighs and the teacher (a he) was too terrified to confront her on it.

Well then! That's takin' charge!

I like to watch, I love the drama of it... the idea that these people have been working years to get there.

I love summer Olympics for the equestrian events, and for the gymnastics. Hardly ever watch track and field.

Like Jim Nance. He did the winter games one year. I almost threw the TV out the window. I *hate* that guy. Shut up and show the sport already! I like the olympic games - 'specially the gymnastics. When I was a girl, I had a Mary Lou Retton red-white-blue leotard!

Don't want "up close and personal."
