But isn't the end the same - they all die of measles or something?
I mean, sure, it's old, but it worked... and well enough that I know several authors ripped it off. Notably Ray Bradbury.
That's one of the reasons I like reading Golden Age SF, though... the realization that a "hoary old cliche'" may have appeared in a particular story for the very first time ever!
One of my friends wants to see it so I'll probably end up going, next week maybe. I make her watch anime and stuff so I guess I owe her.
Next up for us is "The Fantastic Four"!
Yeah, I'm not too excited about that one. Wasn't brought up with comics, and I just don't "get" the FF. Tell me if I'm wrong, when you see it, if it's a must-see.
For comics fans, FF is one of the "Holy Grails" of comic book movies. Bigger than X-Men, to the older generation, anyway... up there with Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man. One of the superhero archetypes.
If they screw it up, it will be a big disappointment to many.
Then I hope they get it right!
I prefer loner superhero movies, personally. X-Men being the exception. Will probably see FF at some point but it might be video...
LOL!! I WISH!! Right now I have some sort of creeping wild raspberry making its way over the ilex holly by the front walk, which is lined with volunteer iris, and, in the back yard, I have a forest of 3 foot tall perinneals, also known as WEEDS, on the mounds of dirt left over from our excavations last summer. The yard has suffered in our planning and doings for the addition, and it won't get any better over the next couple of years. We'll have Joseph mow the lawn regularly, but that's about it until we finish moving dirt from one side of the yard to the other.
The kids are looking forward to that one, too!
I'd fly Old Glory, but I'm still pi$$ed off at SCOTUS.
Good Morning OT - like the flag. Happy Independence Day to all the HH and those serving in those far distance lands.
We'll be flying our Flag between rain drops. Glad we got power, heard on the news that wind was 70 mph, only got to upper 30s mph at our local weather site. No limbs down this time, guess the winds a couple week back took out most of the vunerable ones.
Will be finishing up some arrows this morning, gun buddy may be coming later.
Good morning!
Homer spent the evening in our laps, but it wasn't too bad last night...
We're watching 1776 here.
I haven't seen that, still. Maybe we should get it...though I'm guessin' today it's probably rented out!
The BBC series one?
I really like that one, as I may have mentioned once or twice...
Yes....that's the one.
They just met Wickham (sp?).
It's pretty good. The songs are kind of cheesy, but the debate scenes are excellent. And it's fairly accurate historically, regarding the behind-the-scenes wrangling and compromising that went on to get independence declared. I'd recommend watching it sometime.
