Eh - I'm just joshin' ya.
I just can't imagine ever running to town to get kafir. I don't even have a clue what it is.
Yes, true. But longevity is no measure of health. How many of those years will be spent clinging to a pill bottle for your very life? "Life expectancy" is a misleading measure. Instead, it should be re-normed to the age of onset of degenerative disease - the age when you get handed a pill bottle. The result would be shocking. Age 40 perhaps? Maybe 35? Factoring in childhood diabetes and asthma - maybe age 12?
The folks in loin cloths have us beat - hands down.
Just don't go to the doctor. :)
Beef. Fish. Seafood. Fowl.
Potatos came from South America.
And the fact that many or most of their kids die as babies of children and other things like a cold or a cut (infection) or bad water are more likely to kill you than a car wreck. Or that you can just write off anyone with diabetes or many disabilities. All those are just minor details. Death by tiger at ager 17 is better than death in a bed surrounded by great grand kids at age 89 after you have been taking pills for a decade?
Careful or I shall whallop you with my Birkenstocks! Muahahaa.
Well soybeans count in some countries so tofu sorta counts.
It's fermented milk. If you like yogurt, you'd like this...it's a drinkable yogurt-type beverage that is effervescent (you burp when you drink it) and tart. It's slightly alcoholic (gasp!), not much, just .3%.
It's like sour dough starter...you just keep making it from starter culture called "grains".
~ducking~
You can't fool us. You're just in it for the "herbs."
I've never eaten yogurt. Didn't like the sound of it.
So... I don't like the sound of kafir either ;~D
Chocolate. :)
I can't argue against herbs ;~D
I'm talking about nutrition and disease. I'm not passing judgement on what is better for other people - just pointing out common misperceptions. The big one, that we're so much *healthier* here in the western world, smacks of social darwinism and is demonstrably false.
Open up man. It's me Dave, I've got the herbs...
Dave's not here.
Soy is 'processed' through various fermentation techniques into foods that are more digestable. Things like soy sauce, and tempeh are more common in historical foodways than tofu. Even in modern times, soy remains a condiment. Like mustard in our western diets.
