The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yikes. Sounds "exciting".

Will you be flying out soon?

Yah... boards in about 15 mins. Then on to SFO for a couple hour layover, then home. Get there sometime after 12. Yuck.

I swear... I can't make out a word this guy is saying. Not a word. Maybe its in another language. I just smile and nod every now and then.

Look at our stylin' bikes!

Rosie and her bike, dubbed "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" because it's a mongoose.

Me and my as-yet nameless bike. It'll probably be "that bloody thing" after the third mile tomorrow.

Great bikes, sis!

But honestly, I'm just so happy to finally see pictures of you and Rosie in the apartment!

Love the bookcase. *wink*

Like my BRIGHT pink water bottle cage?

It's really, really hot pink. Blinding. They had it there and I dared Jen to buy it, but she wouldn't...so I did.

Heh...looks rather odd on what is otherwise a bit of a masculine looking bike! ;-) I like it.

Yeah. I'd like to borrow that series in the middle bookcase, second to last shelf from the bottom.

Looks like there's a dragon on the cover??

I love my bookcase, too. See the Tolkien volumes on the left hand side, second from the top?

And I like my bike a lot right now. I'm really going to use it. I got this little odometer/mile counter/etcetera thing too, so it's nice and geeky.

That's my English Harry Potter volumes! It's a phoenix, actually, on the fifth book, "Order of the Phoenix".

Between Jen's odometer and Rosie's hot pink water bottle - you girls are ready to roll!

And I saw the LOTR books right away. I have the same ones. *grin*

Good evening! Either weekend actually works, but the weekend after (15-17) might be slightly better for us, because we would normally be riding the weekend before (8-10) on the truck schedule ;~D

I have paperbacks from three different sets. Quite the mismatched set!

Got the bike set up where I can see it. I wuv my bike. Of course, I have about three minutes of riding time on it so far, but...I'm afraid I could quite easily go totally into bike geek mode again. It was my LIFE for much of my time in Germany.

Bikes are great. And the places you can go and ride in CO will be a treat!

Cool.... I think we should definately take you to the ocean, have you seen the Pacific?

And we could take you to Mount St. Helens too, it's on your way here.

Anything you'd really like to do/see?

Just the part of the Pacific that comes into Gig Harbor. :)

Our three sites are near Salem, Madras, and Hood River. Dunno which one we go to first (or last, or middle.)

Seeing Mt St. Helen's would be cool. Anything with scenery and walking is good. Or just sitting around talking....and eating, of course. :)
