The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Posted on 06/01/2005 7:12:04 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Empress took to wearing capri pants and lose shirts with a cloth sash at the waist... Plus she fences with a saber and rides horses. If she ever takes up sailing you might want to avoid the Caribbean.

Check out the posters that Danny (right) had up in his room back then!

Romell's (left) favorite band was KISS. Can you tell? ~snicker~

Heh... just forced to wear a couple dresses with poofy sleeves at a tender age. It's more an association: poofy sleeves come with lacy dresses, which itch. So poofy sleeves are evil.

Okay folks, I'm outta here.

Did I mention that this weekend was my 25th College Reunion? I'm sure I did somewhere along the way in the Shootmoot discussions.

We're heading to my Mom's tonight and on to Kentucky tomorrow. I ~may~ have access while were there, but even so I'll be pretty busy with alumni board duties (you know important stuff like moving tables, blowing up balloons...transporting the "Golden Grads" etc.).

We'll be back late Sunday and I've got a bored meeting Fredericksburg on Monday.

Expect me when you see 2J.

Have fun! Don't forget to take credit for inventing post-it's. ;)

I've been so totally swamped at work that it'll take me days to catch up.

Yesterday afternoon I got hungry and went to rummage through my lunch box to see what edibles were contained therein. Lo and behold - there sat both breakfast and lunch... untouched. Plumb forgot to eat. And that's saying something. (don't know what, but something...)

It's saying you're going to lose a few more pounds this week, I think...

(Don't look now but I think I'll be down for the week when I do the offical weigh-in Friday)

Good for you! I'm not down much - too much eating out lately. I need to stop that.

Eating out is bad. Nice, convenient, and yummy, but bad.

How are we fixed for green peppers?

Gonna stop for paper plates on my way home. Need anything?

There's a green pepper and a half, but they look somewhat iffy.

I need laundry detergent and milk...but maybe I should get those since the detergent'll be pricey.
