The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Craptacular.
My car is completely dead. Won't even turn over...just clicks.
~sigh~
Celeste came and got the jedis for VBS, so that's a blessing to count. Guess I should call AAA and see if all I need is a jump?

Heh.... did you see anything that was left on?
To: Corin Stormhands
It's so humid out there that no one has good hair today.
Not even bald guys. ;-)

Oh no!
Calling AAA will help figure out what happened at least.

Clicking sounds like battery
To: HairOfTheDog
Not that I noticed...like a door or anything ajar...but Joshua was already in the car when I got out there so if he got in through a door that was already ajar, I don't know and I doubt he'd know the difference.
I've decided not to call AAA. Celeste is gonna bring the boys home, so I really don't have anywhere I need to go. Steve can try jumping the car when he gets home. If that doesn't work, I guess we'll push it into the garage and I'll just take the truck for VBS the rest of this week.
Guess I'll clean house and do laundry!

Yeah, but I reconsidered. We only get so many of these calls to AAA, so I'm gonna let Steve check it out, since it's not an emergency and the car is safely in my driveway.

I've complained about rain in the summer when we were getting it every day for 10 weeks. This is just weird that we're not getting at least the thunderstorms.
To: Overtaxed
Yep...that's nice if that's all it is.
I keep thinking starter?
Alternator?
Steve's changed an alternator before...

Yeah, if you don't have to go out until Steve gets home, best not to use your AAA calls.
They don't like to come to your house anyway. They're mainly for roadside assistance.
(hmmmm...wonders where the heck his new cards are...)
To: 2Jedismom
Hope it's just something simple!
Ugh, there's something to be said for not working out first thing in the morning. I feel so slimy until I get my shower.

How old is the battery?
A starter doesn't do the clicking thing when it won't work....at least mine didn't. :)
You might want to have the alternator checked out just to make sure it's working.
To: Corin Stormhands; 2Jedismom
I've had AAA for years and I think I've only used their services six or seven times.
But it's so nice to have!
I use their travel and hotel discounts anyway. *grin*

Who's having a baby?? Ben that just got married?? They're expecting ALREADY? Yep! I think it musta happened the very first night...heh...
If I ever get married, I hope that's how things go for us, too!
The baby's due in January. I'd like to be there, but if I go at Christmas, I of course can't really up and leave again in three weeks. Maybe I can make it home around Easter, at least. We'll see. It'll depend on the vacation policy at work, and if I have money.

Good info!
The battery is pretty old! Gosh, I don't remember EVER changing it and we've had the care almost 10 years.

New Hampshire - an area I'm rather homesick for. We spent more off-time in NH than in Vermont, being right on the border and with NH having better shopping, hiking and entertainment.
*sniff*
I'm wondering how Anne's gonna deal with her first real winter, though. ;-)
