The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hair and Ecurb's Big Adventure! Glad it all worked out. There are some pretty crappy people in the world...but there's also some really nice ones too.

Steve left early this morning to work on his paper. He said he has to turn in another draft in 3 weeks, then the final copy possibly three weeks after that. That will put him done around the end of July...if the final copy is accepted. If not, the final copy goes in a couple of weeks later. And so on, I guess, until it's accepted.

I'm off to finish the new chicken tractor. Gotta have a bigger one for thenuggets.

Good morning!

Drippy out there.

And it turns out the one decent sized parking lot near the church (it's at a closed grocery store) is now closed off. They *were* permitting church parking, but apparently the land owners changed their mind. It's all roped off now.

The church was built before parking was an issue, I think. That whole area is a nightmare...and today one of the main roads is closed off for some festival thingie. I found a parking place, but it wasn't fun. Guess I'd better start planning on leaving a lot earlier.

Joe's gone. Movie's over. Race starts in a couple of hours.

Think I'll go check out the lighting and see if I can't get that stoopid fan up.

I'm only about half awake. Intended to sleep in this morning, but the kitties decided otherwise.

It's amazing how much noise two cats can make without even meowing. Especially when they find a paper bag.

*yawn*

Excellent...

Did my exercise. I think it might be working, as far as building muscles go. Gonna shower soon... I could seriously get used to this church that meets in the evenings...

I knew we should have had you make our list of stuff to have with us next time!

Dont forget first aid gear for you and horses. And picket pins if you have to unload the horses and tie them off somewhere while working on things. Tow strap so someone can tow you out of trouble, or if you have to pull someone else out. Get a lock for the hitch connector on the trailer. If you have to leave the trailer alongside the road, there's a better chance it will still be there if nobody can hitch it up and drive away with it.

Marl developed quite a list of trailer survival gear over the years, and that was just going back and forth to dressage shows. Of course, most items were put on the list after we found out the hard way that they were needed.

Good timing on the steak....we've got more rain showing up on the left side of the radar.

Just finished the steak (Miss Cat likes filet), a potato, and grilled zucchini and onion.

Race is almost halfway. Lots of people blowing out left fronts.

Afternoon...

Sorry I bailed on the chat last night. I slept through the rest of themovie. Church this morning. Answering email and blessing the heart of people complaining about thebabypool not being opened.

What I said was "we're working as quickly as we can to get it back online."

What I wanted to say was "We had to order a new drain cover, because if your child sat on the old one it could suck his intestines out."

And no, I am not making that up. It's happened. Not to us, but to similar pools without the appropriate drain.

Should be up and running today anyway. Gonna take Luke down there in a little while.
