The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It never hurts to get checked, especially if it's not getting better.

At least they haven't just forgotten you!
You are wise to have fallback options, too.

'cept that I'm not sure a computer tech would be considered for secretarial work...I'd be considered overqualified. This in spite of the fact that it's a position that pays more than I've ever made...and doesn't have any requirements I don't meet.
We'll see. I still think there's a good chance I'll get the one job. I'm just not good at the patience and trust thing.
Which may be *exactly* why I'm being put through this. ;-)

Heh... yes, indeed.
It is a little unfair that there's such a thing as overqualified.

It tastes just fine. Both the sausages and the chicken taste fine.
I'm going to cook it all up and re-freeze it...

Okay...to bring this back around to the thread topic, what would be the best caliber for hunting Mumak?
It was funny...when I was watching the Minas Tirth battle scenes in the movie, I kept thinking "If they just had a hundred guys with M1-A1s, and a million rounds of ammo, this would be WAY different."
Or, better yet, a handful of Browning .30-caliber machine guns, and the aforementioned million rounds of ammo.

That's right. And were in cardboard boxes, so were still quite cool.

Caliber?
I'm thinking shoulder-launched missile, personally.

We got a toad-strangler this morning just as I was putting the leash on Gypsy, so we had to wait awhile. Looks like rain again.
Got the split redbud down and bagged up for the recyclers yesterday; OB started digging the stump out last night. I'm thinking of replacing it with a mimosa tree; not enough room for the bald cypress OB wants.
To: JenB
I'm thinking shoulder-launched missile, personally. Provided you can take your shots from the tower walls, a Barrett .50 BMG would probably suffice. All you've got to do is put one of those bronze 750-grain spitzers into his brain. =]
But remember, when you do..."It only counts as one!"

We've discussed on a few occasions how much faster things could have been if the whole mission...quest...thing...had happened in modern times. Roadside assistance, anyone? And what would have happened if they'd carried MREs?
As for Mumaks...would you wanna stop 'em by any means possible (sprayed mumak...mmmm..), or is the meat good for somethin'?
