The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What's the chat view schedule?
To: RosieCotton
Correcting my technical terms? ;-) You appeared to be asking for help. I'm prone to provide it, welcome or not! =]

Saturday I think.... But Jen's in charge ;~D
To: Oberon
Help was fine! Just laughing at myself. My roommate was kinda giving me a hard time here, too, for calling it a "bitty rifle". Heh...

Saturday, but I don't believe a time had been set.
I may be out until five thirty or so our time...but since Jen will be here to start the movie and all, I can always just jump in whenever I get back.

Well, "bitty rifle" is a perfectly valid term. It communicates effectively, and that's the purpose, right?

Yep...I was trying real hard not to be disappointed. But I had already decided that if I ever had to buy a new deep freeze, I was just gonna go ahead and paint it's door red too. I like that red door so much!

Winchester model 94 in 44winmag.
This little 16" barrel version.

And you fired it with the tame ammo. I have some that... well lets just say the bruise would still be there. Did you go look at the big metal plate? It kicks for a reason. The make that same type of rifle in a variety of other calibers that might be a bit tamer. Fun little rifle I originally got to take hiking in the DEEP woods.

Okay. I'll try to jump in when I can. The first swim meet is tomorrow so I don't know how late I'll be (it starts at 5).
Are we using the Yahoo chat room?
To: 2Jedismom
My bruising from the rifles is gone... You must not have been doing it right. I didn't get any bruises. :)
Might go scope out The Bullet Hole this weekend...see if the neighborhood is infested with pawnshops and tattoo parlors.

You know...even after shootmoot, I'm still purty confused on ammo. I gather there are different types for different ranges - short, medium and long. Correct? And the number means the size of the actual ball...but it seems like there's overlap as far as power goes. .44 vs. .45, for example. Or am I all confused? What does the "magnum" mean?
Sorry to be such a dope...after this weekend I feel like I know a bit, but mostly learned enough to have a lot of extra questions!

It might be crowded on a weekend and I usually have other stuff to do on weekends.
But Wednesday is Ladie's Night. Might go then...but only if the neighborhood doesn't look too seedy.
