The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

How come nobody told me Anne Bancroft died?
To: RMDupree; HairOfTheDog
"hairsearch4realkillr" is mine.
To: Corin Stormhands
Thought you knew....besides, Anne Bancroft isn't exactly one of my favorites.

There was a bit of confusion as to whether to was Ann Bancroft or Anne Bancroft.
Turns out it was Anne, Mel Brooks' wife.

Sigh... I *may* be down half a pound since my last weigh-in. Or not. I think I may have figured it out - had an, oh, duh, that could be why I haven't lost any weight in a year and a half moment last night.
Grr. It's very aggravating, because I've been trying so hard.

I haven't really seen news this week. But I found this on our local fishwrap website this a.m.

Sigh... I *may* be down half a pound since my last weigh-in. Yes, but do you know who Anne Bancroft is?
To: Corin Stormhands; JenB
For Jen's benefit...*grin*

That's kinda what I wondered at first, but then I saw that the drain wasn't working and that ice had backed up all the way up to the fan.
See, it's got this feature where it runs a defrost cycle ever so often and that causes water to form and should have been draining down that pipe into a plastic pan under the freezer (behind the black plastic grid at the bottom.) Well, that pipe was plugged up but good and wasn't working at all...two weeks worth of defrost water had accumulated in the back panel where the fan is and in the floor under the basket I kept my veggies in. It wasn't obvious unless I'd looked under that basket, which I never did. It was a solid sheet of ice under there, WHICH is why when the thing quit working, my veggies stayed frozen...they were sitting on a big chunk of ice!
Well, I got the ice out of the bottom, but suspected there must be ice behind the panel because it kept melting and melting and running out into the floor of the freezer all evening! (I worked on this thing till midnight.) Sure enough, there was big chunks of ice back there when I got access back there and that's when I noted the plugged drain. Water was just sitting there that should have been draining.
It's draining now! I mean, it's just a bit...a trickle...a few drops...but I guess over time it added up. And I had noticed that water was collecting in the bottom of the thing even when we first got it, but I thought it was merely condensation from having the door open too much. Never entered my mind it could have been a big block of ice melting!
I really think it's fixed!

I have photoshop work to do tonight. I think it will be a "history" exam.

That's ok, 'cause I'm pretty tickled with myself...

Tsk. Tsk. Anne Bancroft you should know.
Actress. Married to Mel Brooks.
One of the few to win an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy.
To: Corin Stormhands
It is entirely possible that I have never seen any of her work.
