The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, we need internet... Besides, it looks too much like my family's house, except with a porch.
And I expect anywhere is going to be smokeless indoors. I do want to say, I appreciate the courtesy the smokers here in the Hole show to the rest of us.

Didja do all that from memory?Yeah... I tried to look up the meanings for "Isildur" and "Anarion", but the rest of what I posted was from memory.

Well, it's that time again.
I'm off to get enough sleep to get me to the weekend.
Nighty night everyone!

Heh... geek is grand... I used to be able to recite the plot of almost every Original or Next Generation Star Trek episodes, along with the Tolkien stuff. And Harry Potter.

Stuff at work today kept reminding me of different Monty Python sketches.
By the way, I'm currently having to work with some screaming moonbat liberals. It's very disturbing.

Heh, the only folks I work with are screaming moonbat liberals. To get to the grad student area where my friends sit, I have to walk down a hall lined with doors promoting idiocy... my favorite is the chick whose centerpiece is a graphic comparing the president to a monkey. It's my favorite because we widely regard her as less intelligent and computer literate than the desk bimbos.
Anyway, this is the place to vent, if you feel like venting. I hope work wasn't the Spanish Inquisition sketch. Those were always just a bit too silly.

I forget what the morning one was... for the afternoon one, someone mentioned the words "six-foot-five", and I couldn't help but hear John Cleese declare "I'll do what I like, because I'm six foot five and I eat punks like you for breakfast!" From
the 'Archaeology Today' Sketch.

I have a Monty Python disability that I am remedying as I come across tapes. It's hard, though! I finally saw the "spam" sketch a few months back. But I've seen the dead parrot and the Spanish Inquisition and the Silly Walks. And my personal favorite, the Marcel Proust Condensation Contest.

2J, sorry I didn't get here earlier. And I figure by now Steve will have looked at it.
I can't remember if you said your parents used the icemaker. It's possible though, if they did that there was still water in the line somewhere and that's what leaked out.
Hope you can get it fixed.

Does the local rental place carry the DVDs?
Wow, time for me to feel old again... I first saw Monty Python on a local PBS station, back in the mid 70's...

A few of the Flying Circus. I think for a grand total of three. Oh, and Brian and Holy Grail, natch.
My introduction to Monty Python was my mother trying to explain why she and Dad had this silly song about Spam.
