Greys and many roans get more white hairs every year. The lippizanners you saw pics of all start out some other color, and most of them are white by the time they are in exhibition in their teens and twenties. My Arab stallion, nearly white looking when I had him, was a dark dappled grey as a three year old.

I think appys that are going to roan always change too.... This POA (my friend is a tiny person) was red with a blanket when my friend bought him at 5 years old, and he's in his teens here. Only red left on him now is on his legs. He was put down about a month after this pic was taken. Colic. Was really a shame.

If this has to do with you, Cindy... I wouldn't expect you'd get a roan unless you bred to one.
