*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Found this one about to cross the farm road this morning. Guessing that it was around 5 feet long.

Question, why did the Chicken snake cross the road?

Answer, coz the meeses are fatter on the other side........

It was a little ticked about having to pose for a few pics but went on his way unharmed.

We simply LOVE hunky veterinarians... we must have pics... no matter what you have to do to get them! :~D

I'm off to start getting horses ready for our ride, ecurbh will be home soon to hook up the trailer and go. Will certainly be checking in with pics when we get back!

LOL! It is a Chicken/Rat snake. Harmless to us but helpful because they eat mice and rats.

He was ticked because I coaxed him to pose for a picture. I used the zoom lens and was a safe distance away. : )

Coincidentally, this is exactly what my pony does when we jab her in the butt with a needle ;~D

You gonna take her on the road, then? ;o)

Great pictures, and what a hoot about that comment about the horse born in France!

Have you evern seen that Disney movie about the rescue of the Lippizaners? It is really pretty good!

Ok, if he comes back out on Monday I'll try to get some pics. This guy is major hunky. If I was younger, prettier, slimmer, not married and didn't have 5 kids, I'd be all over him like stink on stink.

The movie is The Miracle of the White Stallions and Netflix has it, if y'all are still members.

Trail ride pics!

This was a short ride to get Cyn in the river, and over a bridge, and troubleshoot any issues she might have had. She didn't... Bay did, but that's another story. He was feeling great tonight, dancing down the trail and jumping out of his skin and snorting at fallen logs, scary ferns and shadows. Heh... Goofy old horse. He even gave me a little bit if grief about going in the river. He's crossed that river a thousand times. He was just wired... After feeling lousy this morning... Beat's me.

Cyn went right in after Bay finally did ;~D sniffed it once, didn't like the footing but went. (you can see it's big round rocks, like walking on baseballs.)

This is the bridge that was to be the next lesson...

Horses get a little tense on these bridges, they're noisy, and I don't like that it looks like that railing would cut my leg off at the knee, but again, Cyn followed Bay right over this.

Couple trail shots on the way back :~D

And back at the trailer!

Good morning, all!

Hair, the pictures are incredible. Did you have any problems crossing that bridge at all? It looks pretty narrow. I'd probably lead Tuffy across something like that, the only thing that he's ever done that's really scared me was when I was trying to get him to go down a very narrow trail. It was much more narrow than that bridge but I'm shell-shocked now. I was halfway down the trail when he freaked, scrambling and fighting to get out of the trail. The girl I was with was screaming at me to get off but there really wasn't a way jump off without landing under his feet. He finally reared right straight up and hopped out of the trail. It all happened so fast I didn't have time to be scared, until it was all over.
