I havent but the kids and deaconjim have. We got him when I had broken my arm and foot and my arm, though mended still isnt right. I would prefer to ride Sugar who I know, she knows me and my limitations and I am comfortable with her. Deaconjim is heavier than me so Smokey os a really good size for him! If he can get on! LOL It's quite a way up!

Yes, but some better than others.

On the old trail drives, each cowboy had a horse that was his 'swimmer', that he used to cross rivers with.

The outfit is what I was used to seeing everyone that was into horses wearing.
Jeans, cowboy boots, spurs and cowboy hats came out of Western movies LOL! I know what i prefer now though!

Morning:')Yeah, I didn't know if you were ready yet. I don't know if it's good for me or not but I stepped onto Sarah Lee from the tailgate of the truck each time Sun. It was so easy that there are probably 100 reasons why I shouldn't have:')

Huh. I think it depends on the mare and the gelding... Some barns I've been to put them separately, but other places put them together on a case by case basis if they get along.

Your pictures are great! I really enjoyed looking at them and imagining the trip. And that pasture is awesome. Quite a difference from Brownsville.

Hey Becky, I just read through that thread about the guy shooting the dog that was on his property. Sorry I missed that one! I especially enjoyed the posts about how normal and common it is for people to spend $300,000 on a horse. The only people I've seen spend that kind of money on horses are in the upper echelon of the racehorse industry. I do know some people who jump Grand Prix and even their horses didn't cost that much. The most I saw this guy spend was around $150,000.

I've heard of a few barrel racers paying $150,000 for a horse. But that's about the limit, other then racehorses.

I think the poster who was yukking it up about all the people she knows that spend 6 figures on horses was showing off. I'm guessing she's single. Rarely do you see married people toot their own horn like that.

They stopped here, at my house about 10:00. The horses did fine. They jumped around a little with the ones that had a string of popping sounds. I let Harley and Rusty go to the back of the pasture. Rocky stayed in his stall. The dogs all hid tho:). I found Susie under the bed, I don't know where Nikki was, and Grizzly would come out once in awhile, but take off with the loud ones.

Good morning everyone!
We had a few fireworks in the distnce that lasted about 5 miins. I went out with a flashlight to check on the horses and when I found them in my beam they were both standing side by side looking at the sky! Guess they had an evening out! LOL It didnt seem to spook them or anything. : )
Sally barked once and then settled down and the bassets stayed quiet. All in all a good 4th July.

So you all don't ever have fireworks??? That really seems odd to me. We've done fireworks on the 4th as long as I can remember. They've never been illegal around here. There are firework stands on every corner.

Funny, it seems the boys always enjoy it more then girls. I guess they are more into blowing stuff up:)
