*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Bet its 100% better where they are now though! When are you going to get a chance to go again? Is it your brother that will be feeding etc them?

All pooping and eating ok. Lot's of energy. I thought he might have broken a leg but nah. Just resting? He got up and everything business as usual.
I made some mistakes but it was a fun trip. It's different when you are on your own.
They loaded fine. We had a flat around Corpus and problems with lights so we didn't get in til dark. I walked and fed them but had to tie them up Friday night. We rode a lot yesterday. I'll post some pics later. The vet and farrier coming out tomorrow to see Sarah Lee.
One of my mistakes. I didn't check her feet before we left. Sat morning there was lime looking stuff on her back feet. The frog and outside groove mushy. It wasn't tender and didn't stop her from running around though. I bought some stuff at TSC for thrush and white line. By yesterday morning it was gone and the frog tough again. I thought maybe it was kind of like how your skin gets when wet too long. I don't know what the white stuff was though. It was like white powder.

I want to go back this weekend (and still may) Eddie says the next one. He tells me to add up all the hours I spent and compare it to how long it would have been here. Not the same though. The horses seem very happy there. They just get nervous if one taken too far away from the other though. Yawn. Let me go get my camera:')

Everyone loaded and ready to go. Sarah lee was a basketcase. She didn't want out of the pasture or to go in the barn. She jumped in the trailer though. I think the attempted floating really scared her bad.

We stopped to eat and noticed we had a low tire. We went to Walmarts across the street. It was 103. They loaned us a jack and bumped us to the top so the horses wouldn't get hot and no kidding but we were back on the road in less than 20 minutes. I called and reported what a thoughtful person the clerk was.

Sorry but I don't think I have any picks of me. People "forgot" Anyway, I walked Okie around the fence Sat morning. Sarah Lee was tied at the trailer and did a little neighing. We then tied Okie and Eddie walked Sarah Lee

The wire wasn't up yet. I stayed behind monday while the guys went for supplies. It was like chasing two year olds and of course where ever Eve went Adam followed. Sarah Lee independently exploring and Okie wasn't letting her get too far away. After running them out of this little area of building supplies when they had a whole pasture 3 times I finally got a lawn chair and guarded but as you will see that didn't work either. This area now fenced off.

Remember those mistakes I was talking about? Well, I was right behind her. She didn't get any of it but it wasn't for lack of trying. In all these pictures her side kick is right behind her.

My BIL and Eddie "planning". We all road Sun morning and evening but just at a walk and in the pasture. We rested them Sat and even though she seemed ok we wanted to go slow with Sarah Lee.

Great pics and report. Good fortune in the face of bad luck with the tire.

I like the pic of fence walking with Okie following along ;~D
