Word For The Day, Tuesday, 5/17/05
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
turbid; adj
turbid·ly adv. turbid·ness or tur·bidi·ty n.
1.Having sediment or foreign particles stirred up or suspended; muddy: turbid water.
2. Heavy, dark, or dense, as smoke or fog.
3. In a state of turmoil; muddled
Entymology: [Latin turbidus, disordered, from turba, turmoil, probably from Greek turb.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
The "lure" of housework - you are strange, indedd.
The lure is that is I get it done during the week, I don't have to do it on the weekend with a husband under foot tracking sawdust and other substances in from the garage...
I agree with the prurient part, but subtle???
You do have a point.............
Well, sometimes he's subtle-just not most of the time...
I'm off to try to make some money-I'll come to class later...
That's ...cruel. And it FUNNY.
maybe it is just my mood today, but i find the judgementalism (is that a word?) on FR somewhat disheartening. i was on a thread yesterday which had an article saying that preschool and preK kids were the most likely to be expelled. I guess it dealt mostly with daycare situations, and not the voluntary preschool programs that my kids attended. but still, Freepers are so quick to condemn other freepers as bad parents for using daycare, sending them to public school or whatever. I don't want to get into that whole debate which has been done to death and we have talked amongst ourselves here about the homeschool/private/public school choices we have all made. guess i am just waxing philosophical this AM.
It's not your mood, dear. I just finished reading that thread about pre-K. I said almost the exact same thing yesterday about the judmentalism of some on a public school thread.
You summed it up very nicely in your last post on the pre-K thread - we do what we think is best with the hand we've been dealt :)
and hubby is on the way to work-he will be the only one in his office again today-and I'm thinking of getting out of here extra early myself...
Oh! "Thsi" should be interesting! Very, very interesting.
T5 is getting out of class early.
Her hubby is all alone (fake sob) by himself (fake sob) with nobody else around (fake sob) all isolated (fake sob) and lonely (fake sob) at work (fake sob).
.....
Anybody else think she's gonna go grab a nooner?
perv..................
Me?
Yes, you.
Being laid poorly on the course might certainly evoke such a vocal spasm.... 8-|
domestic strife? when he's married to ME? surely you jest... : )
I would say something, but that would be judgemental...
And most likely turbid.............
Or is that turgid? LOL.
LOL!!!!!
