From drudge:
SMALL PLANE 'OFF COURSE' CAUSES RAW ALARM IN WASHINGTON... WHITE HOUSE, CAPITOL WERE EVACUATED... A guard in the West Wing of the White House shouted at reporters, "Go down into the basement." "Leave, run," security officers shouted to staff and reporters at the Capitol. "This is not a drill," guards shouted as they moved people away from the building.... location.

I'll betcha anything the person who was flying the Cesna over the no-fly zone in DC will have a glowering by the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, et al. It won't be fun for him. Over a thousand people evacuated???
Cyber called me this morning to turn on FNN to find out what was happening. It was all over by the time he called me.

if this guy is in a cessna and was flying over the capital area, would he need instruments to know what he was flying over, or are they at a low enough altitude that he should have been able to see where he was by looking down? i don't know squat about planes, but how does this kind of stunt happen?

Oh, I've got the chills. How very sweet of you Truth'sBabyGirl.
Happy Birthday to you, Truthie. I didn't make a cake, though. Me bad. I always have my supply of balloons, though.

I'm not sure, not being a flyer. I'd suspect he'd be low enough to see where the heck he was, unless there's cloud cover, but I just don't know how this happens accidentally.

There was a map on FNN, but I wasn't watching it. Apparently, after 9/11 a no-fly zone was put into effect. It's kind of a squirrly map (said the reporterette) because those F18s have to be able to get up to shoot the intruder(s) down.

A DC Sectional (air map) would have it clearly marked. Only an idiot would miss it. FAA regs require that you have a currebt sectional of the area you're flying in.

i think there is like a 33 mi. perimeter ringing the city where they cannot fly. it should be visible to the naked eye from the altitude that plane should have been at, it seems to me.

Lookit I found, apparently it's been re-released (but who cares, the cover's the important thing: I seem to remember less whipped cream and more breast back in the 60's):

Oh, Arghie, I hate to be the one who breaks this to you. It breaks my heart you believe that is whipped cream.
Those are mashed potatoes. Whipped cream wouldn't hold up during the shooting. Gravy, anyone?
