We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of the Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Yesterday, we had quite the debate over global warming and whether it was real or not. At least in this forum, it can be said the antagonists of the theory won the day over the protagonist that tried to press his or her position.
Which brings us to a bigger question, what of environmentalism, and are conservatives inherently against it?
Well, that's sort of asking: "Do you like to breathe dirty air, drink dirty water, and walk through dirty landscapes?" Of course not, that's silly on its face.
Yet, that is the argument that is consistenty and vehemently postulated by the leftists in America--only THEY can protect the environment. Only THEY have the responsibility to protect the non-human species that wander the planet. If it were not for THEM, species other than humans would cease to exist.
Well, like yesterday's debater, it helps to come to the table with some facts.
Here's some dealing with the radical environmental movement.
Today, there is a story where windmills are being opposed in Wisconsin. Clean energy, right? Taking it from the wind, not burning fossil fuels? Taking a premium off of what nature sends around anyway? What can be wrong with that? Birds--the windmills will kill birds.
Global warming. That debate is less about science than about control, how to run everyone's lives. This becomes evident when you review some of the meetings. New science keeps emerging, and this is probably real science, that forces changes in the "theory" of global warming. But these people don't go "wait a minute, we need to study more to find out what's the best course of action," no, that's already been decided--control of the masses. The theory is revised, but in such a way that still requires draconian people control.
Recycling. A nice hot button here. But, guess what? There's been some information coming out lately that recycling is acutally more harmful than creating the product new in the first place. Seems the radical environmentalists forgot to factor in the transportation of the waste material to recycling places, the chemicals used in recycling, disposal of those chemicals, and so on and so on.
Car pooling, and mass transit in general. Sounds good, move large masses of people with trains and busses. One problem: what happens when that capacity fills up? THEIR answer: build more. All right, where? The problem is, mass transit allowed suburban areas to explode, and in the process pushed land values up like a rocket. Statistics have not been researched for this piece, but it would not be surprising if mass transit was the number one contributor to both suburban growth and property value increases generally. And those people have to be supplied. They are supplied by trucks. Trucks that now fill our Interstates, for which we have no more room to build for them because of the lack of foresight. Traffic is gridlocked with no solution--because the mass transit capacity is choked. Net result? Massive increases in air polution.
Enter the Clean Air Act. Now if there was ever a case in mass hypocracy, this is it. The left creates the urban smog soup from their failed efforts with car pools and mass transit, forgetting about the need to provide pavement (busses have to go somewhere you know) and rail (prohibitively expensive, you should know) in advance, and then they say "clean it up"! HOW? Our cars cannot move, the trucks are stalled on the highways belching soot, and we are told it is our fault.
Baloney. This country is straining under two decades of failed policy efforts on the part of the "green" movement. Our cities were, for a while, becoming "green", but are now, once again, moving to brown. Yet governments persist in the failed policies. The Commonwealth of Virginia, for example, has (finally!) authorized two more lanes for Highway 495. Sadly, they are to be "High Occupancy Toll" lanes. Have three or more souls, free, otherwise you get socked.
Having witnessed these lanes in both New York City and Georgia (although you don't have to pay a toll there), they are abject failures. No one is using critical concrete, and the allowable lanes are clogged with cars and trucks, continuing to contribute to the smog overhang. Georgia is more liberal than the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway--you only need two people. And yet, during my trip to Alanta I could observe they were essentially EMPTY during rush hour.
High Occupancy Vehicle programs have been pursued for almost three decades. Isn't it time to say "ENOUGH" and accept THEY ARE NOT WORKING!?
We need to find ways to get cars and trucks moving, and that means concrete. Will the areas around the new pavement grow, certainly. But isn't that how we manage to prosperity? Isn't staying stagnant a recipe for ultimate demise: "a man who stands still is bound to be run over."
Indeed, the procurment and placement of asphalt would lead to the environmentalist's mantra: the solution to polution is dilution. Spread it out. Move the cars and trucks, then the exhaust won't turn to brown soup.
But that leaves the question, is the right "right" on environmentalism? Well, we don't hate the environment. Indeed, we honor a quaint old idea: husbandry. Use what God provides, and make sure we leave it in a state where it is usable.
This can be leveraged. It has been shown that when a company is given exclusive rights to an area, they manage it well. Tree farms are cut appropriately because the paper company wants to stay in business. The fisheries that are given regions to work in the sea strive to protect fish to the extent it allows their business to flourish. These work, they should be pursued.
The problem is, it turns the locus of control to individuals, and that the radical environmental movement cannot allow for it forces them to concede both that they were wrong and their power they wield.
But like the birds in Wiconsin, we will fly around their windmills.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Thanks for the links, Molly. I appreciate it and your ping each day.
I'm not the one walking around spouting fallacy.
Rememebr you?
Not bloody likely.
You'd have to be shapely, feminine, nice figure, and quite satisfactory in physical means to be memorable.
And you just aren't my type.
There, corrected it.
Exactly. You cannot substantiate your position. I am enjoying watching you sink in the quicksand of your own debating point.
"There's lots of research that can be used to substantiate either side of the climate change debate. "
Wait, you said that global wamring was a FACT.
Now you're saying that neither side can be conclusively substantiated.
So which is it?
Sounds to me like you cannot make up your mind.
The entire history of the world is about power and those who seek to achieve it and then exercise it. All nations though out all of history have always acted in their own self interest.
The United States Senate voted 95 to 0 NOT to ratify the Kyoto Treaty. Not a single Democrat, Republican or Independent voted for the treaty. Five senators did not vote. Bill Clinton's signature on the treaty did not cause a single senator to vote for the treaty. The only way that ever happens is when a president tells the world "I am for treaty X.", but tells his party faithful in the Senate ... "I am against treaty X...CMA.. do not vote for it." You will note not a single Democrat voted for the treaty. That is so ... Bill Clinton.
Do you know why?
Because even liberal members of the Senate and Bill Clinton recognized that the Kyoto Treaty was an attempt reduce the power of the USA so we would no longer be the world's only Super Power. Europe has for the last 15 years tried to find a way to unite.. to become a super power equal to the USA. They are not doing so well. Kyoto was an attempt to get the USA to agree to destroy its economy... to become subservient to Europe and the third world.
The power hungry of the world now know that they can not get either party in the United States to agree to shrink the United State's economy and military power. Their attempt to reduce the power of the USA has failed. It is no longer even on the table.
Anyone who thinks that a President Hillary Clinton would move to adopt Kyoto, believes the Clinton's ideology is not about power. After seeing the 95 to zip vote in the Senate, only an idiot would believe that Clinton signed Kyoto hoping it would be confirmed. Clinton had to fix it didn't have a snow balls chance in hell of being passed. It was typical Clinton grandstanding..Clinton had to say, "I'll sign it as long as Democratic Senators guarantee me it will not be confirmed." It was a typical Clinton ploy to fool the far left into thinking he supports their goals.
Loser nations actually thought they could get scientists to make a case that would cause Bill Clinton to destroy our economy. They thought an environmental based pitch just might be able to convince him and us to ruin our economy. A greatly weakened United States would not have the ability to control what happens in the world.
One other point, any one who believes the left cares about the environment should visit Russia or China.
The defect in the plans of the worlds leftists is their belief that the leaders of the Democratic party would be willing to reduce the United States to the level of a third world nation based on their ideology. That is never going to happen. In the USA the left's ideology is just four words........."Get Power!.. Keep It!"
Clinton is so FDR. He tells the world he will help destroy the USA, while telling his Senators to turn it down. And as usual the anti Americans of the world fell for it. They committed themselves to screw themselves.
The leftist nations of the world put themselves in a position of having to circumvent a treaty that they believed Bill Clinton would get adopted by the USA. It was either Monica or a German Prime Minister, I can't remember which, who asked, "When you screw with Bill Clinton why does the semen always ends up on your dress?"
For much of the world's leadership the destruction of the USA as a super power is a major goal. It is the goal of many scientists as well. A significant number of the scientists that developed the Atomic Bomb, felt that it would be best if the Soviet Union prevailed over the USA. That is why they gave the Soviet Union our nuclear secrets. Scientists are not the only people who will tell lies to further a political position. It is the most common practice of political movements.
Today Democrats are doing what out-of-power parties always do. They support things that appeal to a small number of voters, to get their votes. They will do it to get fringe votes as long as the disastrous policy has no chance of being passed. Democrats were very much in favor of Hillary Care until it came up for votes in the Senate and House. It is a strategy often used by minority Democrats to hold the far left while holding the center as well.
Much of the world has agreed to Kyoto in an attempt to use world opinion to influence public opinion in the USA. Everyone with a brain knows that Kyoto will, in practice, work just like the sanctions against Saddam. The lessor nations of the world will loudly adopt it, then will circumvent the treaty in every way while hiding their circumvention. They know the USA is the only nation in history that keeps its word. They believed that Dumb Ole Bill Clinton would ruin his place in history for them. The 95 to zip vote when the Kyoto treaty was submitted to the Senate speaks volumes about what Clinton was doing.
Kyoto is an attempt to reduce the power of the USA while increasing the power of other nations.
No one in power in the USA fails to understand the motives behind Kyoto. Liberals in the USA want to defeat Republicans so they can lead the worlds only superpower. They will never vote to reduce our power. They want the power George W. Bush has. They do not want to reduce that power.. they want that power in their hands.
You haven't won anything or lost anything. You and those who share your views do not have the standing to win or lose. You have never been anything except fooled. In the USA the left has proven it will not do as you wish. They will support you when they are NOT in power. Once in power they will never let the issue come to a vote again. And the right will never do as you wish when they are in power. Face it, your movement does not have the support to gain power or prevail.
All you have accomplished is to reveal your own ignorance of how the real world works. You are reduced to making a disturbance on the sidelines. Neither the left or the right in the USA supports your views. You recognize that the right opposes you. You have failed to understand that the left just fools you. You have no support that matters and you never will.
Typical liberal. Wants both sides of the argument to ensure victory.
He reminds me of.. Kerry.
"I was for it before I was against it."
Cripes I hate guys who do that.
ROTFLMCO!!!
Personally, I think it was the threat of Yellow Kool Aid that scared him off. :o
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
"If you persist, I will pull the pin on this grenade and blow myself up."
"OK."
"No, wait, I want you to reconsider. That's not what I meant. I meant if you don't stop I will pull the pin on this grenade and blow myself up."
"OK."
"No, wait..."
>>So maybe the problem isn't one of economics at all.
Nope....
Hi,
It was raining earlier this morning. Now it's cloudy and trying to be a nice - mild day.
