I wish I lived in the late 1800's/early 1900's.
night, westy
I'm sure I saw (and maybe rode on) real steam engines when I was a kid living in Long Island....but I sure don't remember seeing any up close....
Does this mean I can come out of the corner?
Yes, one should never go to sleep angry or upset with anyone else, even with a shark :)
Watching "back to the Future III"?
Whoops, broke rank. SO sorry.
Every once in awhile, someone will refurbish a steam engine, and run it through my area.
Very pretty, but they are expensive to run due to various reasons.
What was amazing, a steam engine could develop 4000 horsepower even though it only achieved a fuel burn efficiency of 5 to 15 percent at best.
That is actually horrifically crappy performance, but rather amazing on the horsepower output.
There was a design for a modern steam engine out, and it supposedly would have achieved 35 percent efficiency in the fuel burn.
(Probably understated actually.)
I do hope I am remembering this correctly.
I'll probably have to dig up the info to be sure though.
Me too, hence my screen name. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I was definitely around in those days. Love the old mining towns, from CA to Alaska.
lol!
You didn't break rank....YOU can forgive sharky....if you want.... : )
;-)
Just injecting some humor in there to bring a laugh.
;-)
*chuckle*
See you later on, have a pleasant evening!
I used to surf in front of the Azores Hotel, Gilgo Beach......and out the Hamptons way. When were you there?
The golden age of aircraft innovation.
*sigh*
For a few brief moments, I felt sorry for the critter. You know, once he stopped discussing certain topics... Tomorrow, it will be back to the frying pan!
*Must outlast tricksy wimmin*
No, just have always liked everything around that time period...architecture, literature....simple life, even though a hard one, but, family and community was the soul of every person...now, it means nothing to most, nor does craftmanship/workmanship.
Murder in the Hamptons.
darks....you needn't be terribly accurate with me at all....I won't remember details like that...though I'm very detail-oriented with my work and handwork...I just don't remember numbers and stuff with numbers like engines, etc. I think my brain is too filled with so many things, I can't remember details about cars and such, lol.
