There were two old AlCo diesel engines there.
(If an ALCo diesel moved the throttle by two or three throttle positions at a time, it would toss up a column of fire five foot tall out the exhaust.)
I have never personally witnessed this myself yet.
Though I am told it is very impressive.

so, I would assume that some would NOT want to move the throttle by two or three throttle positions at a time.
To: Lakeshark
okay.....my quilt's still not done.....remember? : )
To: nicmarlo
It would do the fire column due ot turbo charger lag, as the injectors were putting more fuel in, but it wasn't burning it all.
So it would smoke like a monster first.
And then the turbo would kick in, and the flame column would shoot out.
Buit I am assuming you are correct that one would not want to try and move the throttle more than one or two throttle positions at a time.

that's crazy....5 feet of fire....that's what you said? wow....that would be kind of scarey, i'd say.
To: Lakeshark

To: nicmarlo
