Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

"Seriously, though: I am RORO'ing, only as a courtesy."

Whatever.
There is a rather large pile of elephant dung back there behind the lavatory. You are now to clean the area by way of oral consumption. Salt/sugar/Tabasco Sauce are all permitted as aids to the task.

We request that you find the nearest donkey on which to deposit whatever remains of the meal from any orifice you decide is appropriate.

Sincerely,
RNC

Spot on.

We have seen, what were thought to be solid appointments go South (Souter.)

So one cannot tell how they will actually discharge their duties. But, the Dims know it's the "Last Battle" and we simply must take it to them, and do the best we can with the results. I have high hopes that the nominees are men with chests.

I'm being serious. I've changed my mind ONLY BECAUSE it appears circumstances have changed. If they change back, I and a lot of other people will get right back on the Republican Exodus Wagon.

Sincerely,

One very pissed-off base.

This just in: ...

jveritas has the concession on leftover clinton knee pads. He got it in exchange for any principles that he ever had but didn't want to defend.

I believe that is what is known as an oxymoron.

So, yeah, there are times I feel politically homeless, the Democrats are run by a bunch of barking moonbats and the Republicans (generally) a bunch of gutless wonders. I guess if I had to bolt, I'd give looks at the Constitution, Reform, or Populist parties for myself.

I think we're all teetering on the brink here. It's really gotten sad.

Like the father in Dr Zhivago when he returns to his country home in the dead of winter, all locked up and confiscated by the state, damn it I'm people too, and I'm venting, at the narcissism of it all. All of this posturing about folks not voting Republican, and leaving the party, is getting really old. It's garbage, it's disingenuous, and it's effect on getting anybody to change their mind about anything is one big fat zero, and that is exactly the weight which should be given to these ersatz threats.

There, that feels better. Oh yes, I am sick and tired of all these inane vanity threads! They are beginning to annoy me almost as much as Indian casinos - and that is a whole heck of a lot.

Either one is bad enough on it's own. Put them together and you get stupid, evil things like CFR and the PATRIOT Act.

Yep this foreigner thing is going to make you win the argument or change the fact that you are raving idiot. You posted a thread based on a stupid article from the AP and came up with your own dumb conclusions about Frist making a deal with the Democrats on the filibuster issue.

I did not take more than 2 hours to be proven that you are a total buffoon whose hromons are in total control of his brain.

Worse that what you point out is that the big L and small l libertarians are both the reason for GOP losses and at the same time not significant enough to worry about.

The threat is quite real, and people *will* stay home out of disgust.

I'd love to be able to run an experiment, but perhaps you can be shown that this is true when, in 1994, liberals, who found Clinton too moderate, stayed home in droves, while at the same time gun-owners showed up PISSED, giving Newt Gingrich his Republican Revolution.

I daresay the same scenario has a significant chance of repeating in 2006 unless the party gets -- and keeps -- some balls.

And the fool pubbies will take the compromise even if they have the votes to win. They will cave when they don't need to.

On what? That if the party re-caves, I'm bolting?

I don't want to take your money like that.

You make decisions with the information you have. Perhaps YOU are blindly loyal to a party NO MATTER WHAT. I guess that's one of those blithering idiot foreigner things. Maybe they'd shoot you in your home country for opting out of a political party.

"Balls" is telling Syria's Assad that he pulls his troops and intel forces out of Lebanon. "Balls" is capturing 3 ships with nuclear components just outside of Tripoli and telling Ghadafy that he either comes clean or else it is the end of the road.

"Balls" is submitting Rice for Secretary of State just as the NY Times and Washington Post are deifying Colon Powell. "Balls" is having Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense and Cheney as VP.

"Balls" is telling China to return our downed EP-3 and crew on the one hand, while on the other hand telling Europe to not drop their arms embargo of Communist China. "Balls" is telling North Korea that they can only talk to us through our preferred 6-Way talks.

"Balls" is submitting Bolton to be our new UN Ambassador!

"Balls" is re-submitting *all* of the judges (who so wished) to Congress after the Dems "filibustered" them in the first place!

Which is to say, contrary to the tripe published in the Corrupt Old News Media, what we are doing is *deliberately* picking fights with Dems.

Once picked, we are first acting as though it will be a nip and tuck thing (e.g. "Condi may not be approved"), and then once the Dems are suckered in to the fight, lowering the boom on them.

This is A-Team politics, played shrewdly and masterfully. We aren't overtly running over the Dems, but we are making it appear as though we are "just barely" winning every fight.

Blindly loyal to a party he can't join, even. You have to be able to register to vote to be a Republican. Strange.

Hey, jveritas, you still haven't told us which foreign nation you are still a citizen of. Is it top secret? If it is, I won't ask any more.

Strategy didn't work out too good for Terri Schiavo.

"Strategy didn't work out too good for Terri Schiavo."

That's true, she certainly suffered. However, her martyrdom will have repercussions that benefit millions of her fellow helpless Americans due to how the politics were played.

Sucks for her, of course, but the other millions will see it for what it was after another 2 generations or so.
