Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Then why the hell would they care what you think, and why wouldn't they keep on doing all the stupid crap they've been doing for years and years, just to retain power over your life and your money?

They don't, obviously. But you ought to hear what the likes of Shelli Pingree and Tom Allen stand for! Yikes!

I sure would like to see the government shrink. I just haven't figured out to make that happen.

Your poem is cute.

Not quite sure what point you are trying to make, but very cute nonetheless.

Um, shouldn't you ping ClintonBeGone and Ben Ficklin, maybe Dane as well, so you can have the whole BushKissing faction at your disposal? I mean, jveritas is already here.

You're exactly right!! If Frist does this deal, he can forget any dreams of the White House. I'm sick of these turncoat, sniveling, cry baby RINOS.

No matter what "gate" the RATS are caught in, the Republicans are too cowardly to bring them down, but the RATS relentlessly persecute ANY Republican they want brought down, EVEN when they are innocent.

I'm sorry. That was rude. You and I have usually been civil, even if we disagree with one another. I offer my apologies.

>The Cookies

She's lost - she's late
She's zooming on a couch somewhere
Or high - or home
I'm not supposed to call her there

I wait - I smoke
I stare into my coke
It's happening again
I tell myself that it's over and done, amen

Her skin - like milk
It's like she's never seen the sun
Some hearts to crunch
Is more like her idea of fun
I know - she's ill
I'm cruising for a spill
I'm hanging just the same
I need to be in the heat
Of her cold white flame

CHORUS:
Another negative girl
At the edge of the frame
Deliciously toxic
The original classic thing - more of the same

She's in the zone
Crying on the phone
I need you here
I'm on the street again
Staggering out into the burn of the brain dead dawn
To arrive in time to find her gone

She's on the train
To somewhere up by Fordham Road
Her reptile brain
Locked down and ready in combat mode
Some cash - a key
This guy she has to see
A doctor friend uptown
And maybe she gets to me when she comes back down

CHORUS:
Another negative girl
Spinning out of the frame
Exquisitely limpid
The original classic thing - more of the same

A goof - a buzz
If that is what it was
Then how do you explain
The way she looks when she's
Dragging me out to dance with her
In the summer rain

CHORUS:
Another negative girl
At the edge of the frame
Exhausting and luscious
The original classic thing - more of the same

Would you let him date your daughter?

Prolly. If anyone knows that my over-the-top comments are for comic effect, it would be Guenevere. The one time I went over-the-top and offended Guen, I immediately apologized.

Now how about let's stop talking about me, shall we? My purpose on this thread was to try to A) Gauge conservative dissatisfaction with Republicans, B) Communicate to Republican operatives that dissatisfaction, and C) Give people a place to rally their efforts and maybe make a tiny difference.

Voting for 3rd Party wackos only works in the primaries. Here's how it works: Say that in the primary election, the Democrats get 45% of the votes, the Libertarians get 1/2%, the Socialist Workers get 2 1/2% and the Greens get 3%. Then in the general election campaign, the Democratic candidate can look at the results of the primaries and say: "Gee. 51% of my important constituents feel really strongly about moral-liberal issues, so therefore I must alter my campaign message accordingly!"

We must stay in the party and change it. It takes time.

You can't fix stupid.

And you can't fix spineless either.

Two thoughts come to mind Laz...

What took you so long to come to the conclusion that in fact this country has a one party system.

The other is, have you have you taken an objective view of the metamorphosis of FR???

Good guys know how to BE STRONG and ride out the bumpy roads without getting thrown!

And smart guys know when its time not to put up with the same $hit over and over again.

I know how you feel, Laz. It's demoralizing. I want them to JUST DO IT. Then we'll know who is with us and who is against us when the chips are down.
