I've marked my line in the sand on the nominees as well.
For the life of me I will never understand how a Republican President can appoint a judge only to have that appointment nixed in a Republican Senate, without ever giving the President the respect of an up or down vote.
I cannot seriously believe Frist is so stupid as to compromise on the filibuster issue. Doing so only sets a precedent that the dims' unconstitutional tactics are legitimate. The judicial filibusters aren't legitimate in any way, shape or form. They are based not on qualifications or fitness for the bench -- instead they are based on ideology and abortion/religion litmus tests.
What makes me most sick about this whole charade is that Ginsberg, Stevens and Breyer - some of the most ideologically extreme jurists in history - are already on the SCOTUS, and they still have the unmitigated gall to label GWB's appointees as extremists and prevent an up or down vote.
The ineptitude almost makes me want to vote for dimocraps just to speed the process of strengthening the pubbies longer term, with the idea being what doesn't kill them might make them less wimpy.

The Republican Party better take note of the incredible dissatisfaction in their party. Why? That's the whole point of a paper free voting system. You never have to worry about those pesky voters, only if your hackers are better than their hackers...

I've sent letters to Frist clearly explaining my position, offering my advice, and wishing him well.
His office has replied with one namby pamby, meaningless reply after another.

FRIST WILL FOLD!!
The curent handful of judges is meaningless. A compromise on them is a win for the crapweasels and a loss for the good guys. These udges are not important! What is important is the first Supreme Court vacancy.
Any surrender today that leaves the outcome of that appontment in question will be a disaster. FRIST WILL FOLD!!

"Although I must confess I don't understand why Bush hasn't insisted on moving this along faster. Dragging it out is just plain politically stupid,....."I don't think it is politically stupid, I think it is a good manuever. If Bush and Frist had done something right away the people would accuse the Republicans of unfair play, but now MORE PEOPLE are beginning to see how the Democrats are always playing dirty.
Believe me more and more democrats are beginning to realize (because they are seeing it) that the Democrat Party is not the party they want anything to do with.

Did you mean SYBIL?
Yeah, Carrie was the one with telekinectic power who blew up her prom. Sybil was the one that had multiple personalities.

(Remember: DimocRat lies told often enough became truth to 48% of Americans (NRA))
To: Lazamataz
I've privately come to the same conclusion. I'm not sure it will affect my voting - I'm always going to choose the lesser of the two evils, which usually means voting (R), but I'm not sending any more campaign cash to the national party.
I will consider supporting individuals, Blackwell looks like he may be worth supporting (Ohio), for example.
I also will consider supporting various independent organizations & PACs (like the NRA).
I won't be writing any checks to the RNC anytime soon.
To: Lazamataz
You make some good points and I understand your frustration but what is your alternative?
Libertarians who never win, The Green Party? Or a no vote which is really a vote for the latest Liberal?
Hang in there, make your feelings know to your Republican Rep and NEVER give money to the Republican party ONLY the candidate of your choice
NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT

Rush went off a couple of weeks ago but now says we're winning. It seems he has more personalities than Sybil.....correcting from Carrie earlier.
To: FreedomSurge
Freedom- I've waited 6 cycles now. I'm not getting any younger, and despite an uptick during the Reagan years, this mess isn't getting any better.
