A bit later, but a Krishna spit on me and called me a babykiller at St Loius Airport, Feb 1983. In Class A's just back from Korea.
He ate my duffle bag!!
How do you prove a negative?
Same thing the "liberal prof" teaches at his institution, I'm sure. No doubt his vet status is as authenticate as Ward Churchhill's.
As a Russian one said, "The difference between Americans and Russians is that we KNOW Pravda is propaganda....
The winds of change are blowing cold.
Pop had just lost a friend and was not in a forgiving frame of mind. For future reference, an "assault" (or battery) is a harmful or *offensive* touching of one by another. Doesn't have to be a punch or shove. And out west, from the vigilante days I suppose, a man isn't required to retreat but can stand his ground. But the old man used unreasonable force, self-defense, lucky he didn't get canned.
You did the right thing, like you I'll probably let police handle any discourtesy I might see directed to vets. But I won't `let it go' like a lot of civilians did then.
Thanks for your service.
I came home in 67 after my second tour and got spit on by a hippie chick at the Oakland airport, a couple of MPs and a police officer grab me and escorted me from the area before I could drop some napalm on that ass.
In 1970 when I returned from my third tour I was catching a connecting flight in Chicago and got spit on again. The guy took off through the airport before we could discuss the issue.
It was just a shitty time to be in uniform.
Nor do I. However your philosophy is interesting. And I will remark its been tried many, many, many times before. Take as an example that crap spouted by the left's favorite bogyman the Nazis. No one seriously challenged the lies they told and so it was accepted as truth.
Apparently MSNBC gave a national platform to a guy that definitively can vouch for the behavior of every member of the anti-war movement from 1965 until 1975.
If thats Hardball....
"Sorry to hear that. Hope you decked someone?"
Matter of fact I did and a WWII vet saw my 101st ABN patch and came out of the bar and grabbed me and took my away before I got into any more trouble. Seems he was a Screaming Eagle in the big war and he fed me, got me drunk, and put me on my flight back to Philly. One very pleasant memory!
I remember that thread, too.
My dad wasn't spit on (as far as I know, he doesn't talk about things like that too much), but he did tell us he was called 'baby-killer' several times while walking through Chicago's O'Hare Airport after returning from the Marines.
The ironic part was that while he was in the Marines in the late 60's he never went to Viet Nam. He was an MP in Hawaii. Stupid hippies.
Apparently, no one knew that Baghdad Bob has gone to work for PMSNBC.
They forgot to tell us that Bubba didn't have sex with that woman - Miss Lewinsky, either!!
"Counts to me, Thank You.'
No, let me thank you.
That was probably October/November, 1971, at Penn State, the main campus. I was still wearing my state-side fatigues alot. Stopped wearing them after that once folks figured out that I was not making a fashion or political statement, but it was all I had to wear.
And what you said is right. Most of us in my unit helped out at a local orphanage. We had frequent collections for various Vietnamese staff who were in difficulty.
In addition, while most of us saw the crazy rules of engagement for what they were, I think most of us saw the cruelty of the NVA and VC towards their own people as well as us. The futility of it all was primarily due to political interference. Lord knows I had my share of local leadership problems too (I was just an enlisted guy..19 years old and an E-5).
Anyway, the disconnect between reality and what the left likes to romanticize about their so called anti-war activities, I think, is a lost cause. I will, however, correct them when able.
I would spit on Jane if given the opportunity. Whatever the legal consequences might be, would be worth it.
Yes, but battery acid is not spit. You don't have court records proving that you were spit on.
And I bet you love Jane Fonda, too.... < /sarcasm >
"They have the best daytime programming, starting with Imus. They have great sources and on-air interviews. "
Yes, yes, yes, but how are their women?
Amen, brother. Everytime I went through SFO (San Fran) I was always E&E'ing through that place.
Tell lies enough, and they become reality... too bad no ones buying this yuts. Left's been pushing this "vets were never spit on" line for a few years now... its total lie of course, but what else to you expect from communists and their apologists?
Neither was mine. My Dad (Rest in Peace), all 5'8" of him, wasn't too happy with the "attention" he received from the hippies at the airport after returning to Texas from his second tour in Vietnam. Hippies were scattering like chaff from wheat when he decided to, errrr, confront them. I might also add that the old man was the only person I ever knew that could do 10 one arm pull-ups (one arm, second arm hanging at his side), at 38 years old.
That's a great story. Thanks.
Reminds me of this story. I wonder if it was the same professor?

Look how mad everyone gets on this thread. :)
See post 97. I saved it on my comp cuz it was such a great thread.
...you got that right....oh and by the way....John Kerry really didn't throw his medals over the White House fence.....(sarcasm off)...
