Oh, God. Does living in Texas make me a southerner?

38% Definitely Yankee, too, and happily so. Not that there's not a lot to admire in Dixie. Pronunciation is one thing, however, accent is quite another. Air Force brats become multi-dialectical.

36% Yankee...I am a blend...was raised in the Midwest, by a Midwestern born mom, along with a Pennsylvania/New Jersey born and bred dad...lived for 32 years in the midwest...then moved to the North Carolina for 5 years...so easy to pick up the accent, and colloquial phrases there...then have spent the last 20yrs in Western Washington...

What was especially gratifying about this quiz, was to see Question #3...about how do you pronounce 'creek'...I have always pronounced it as 'Crick'...I know I got that from my dads way of speaking...but it used to drive my husband and my kids crazy...they could just not understand why I pronounced 'creek' as 'crick'...now, I see that is a common way of pronouncing the word in Pennsylvania, where my dad was born and was raised, and he apparently carried that pronunciation into his speech...I picked it up, my brother did not...but its good to see that it is a common way of prononcinng that word in the area where my dad came from...

63% Dixie, just below the Mason-Dixon line. They nailed this one... I'm a life-long Marylander.

33% (Yankee). You are definitely a Yankee.

Not surprised. Family (most of it) has been Northern since 1640. 'Course there's Bernadette, but never met her.

83% (Dixie). Did you have any Confederate ancestors?

Makes sense... I don't have any Yankee blood in me. My mom was born in Louisiana, & her ancestors were from Georgia, my paternal grandfather was from Alabama, and all my other relatives are from Texas.
