The Governor of Florida allowed his office and leadership be usurped by a judge. He will never recover his credibility. He has displayed himself to be of feeble character. Too bad it was at Terri’s expense. When called upon to lead, he coward.

The buck stops at the Governor’s office and not with some judge.

Difficult question and to be fair, only one that Jeb Bush can answer.
I'm very upset by all this and I see the struggle with Jeb Bush fighting for Terri and I'm not about to judge him harshly now.

Hugh is a coward. He always has been. Real men don't listen to spoiled brats.

Hugh does get it and knows activist judges are the problem. He believes that violating the law ourselvesis not the proper way to remedy the problem. The way to go is to elect the right judges, or, where they are appointed, change the balance in legislatures in order to get more conservative, strict constructionist judges on the bench.

Hugh DOES get it. I have been appalled at the way people here have demanded that the law be ignored.

No good deed goes unpunished.
Jeb Bush will be the new lightning rod
unless Terri rises from the dead.

Hewitt was right. We are a nation of laws. Surely Jeb Bush would do whatever he could do within the law. Just because liberals ignore the law when it does not work for them, does not mean that we should. If anyone knows of a law that would allow Jeb Bush to act, I suggest you call his Attorney General. If Conservatives do not stand for the rule of law, then who are we to complain when the other side doesn't either?

Many are finding it very easy to condemn and chastise Jeb Bush.

But they won't take the time to explore the WORK he has done on Terri's behalf.

Jeb Bush has been fighihg endlessly for years now, trying to effect change, through policy and intervention on this poor woman's plight.

So has Right to Life.....behind the scenes...lobbying the Florida legislators and actually getting bills passed...

..Already, in the past, Jeb Bush has been instrumental in giving this woman more time.

I am personally ashamed of those who are foaming at the mouth and wishing him ill will.

We are eating our own...

..Do you think Reno, or Bob Graham, or Lawton Chiles or Clinton's Congress or anyone of that ilk would have lifted a finger to help her.

The answer is NO!--No, they wouldn't....and NO they didn't!

PLEASE step back and see what is happeing.

The Democrats are in glee watching folks turn on Jeb Bush and by proxy, his brother, the President, because they didn't 'do enough'..(according to some people)

If you all are taking the word of Randall Terry on this.....PUUULLLLEEESS DON'T!...

Randall Terry has his own checkered past and has fallen from grace in many circles.

It just shows the desperation of Mr. Schindler to acquire the services of Terry.....I don't blame Schindler, but IMO R.Terry is taking a huge advantage of him just so Randall can get some face time.

I have great respect for D.James Kennedy, but not having read yet what he said, I still support Jeb Bush.

PLEASE FOLKS....STOP THE ASSAULT ON BUSH!

I heard that yesterday too. Medved was a little disappointing too. He's definitely for keeping Terri alive too, but doesn't think that Michael S. is such a bad guy--just doing an evil thing in this case. He said that Michael S. took care of her after her accident. From what I gather that was all for show--to show what a loving husband he was for the mal-practice trial because didn't it all end right after he got the dough?

HH is a squish, a "go along to get along" process conservative.

He would have defended the "rule of law" in Germany in 1935, as doctors were euthanizing the "useless feeders," because judges had approved the new laws.

People have very strong feelings on this. Don't worry about it. He just doesn't want the pro-life crowd turning on itself. Jeb has done so much, and we really need to be grateful for what he has done. I would love it if he went to the limits, but I am not going to fault him for holding back at this point. He is in a very difficult position and he has really been outstanding overall. We must THANK him, not condemn him.

I'm not saying I really fault those who want him to do more, but I think they should realize that they will need his aid again, and that they shouldn't burn bridges. This is a tough one. Jeb has been great. We should be thanking him. This is NOT his fault.

only a rhesus monkey would characterize "judge" greer's injunction to not even give terri food or water by mouth as the "rule of law".

"judge" greer is an ego- maniac and any reference to this cold-hearted monster as a "conservative christian" should make any sane person ill.

The church he attended kicked him out of their fellowship and greer should be removed from the bench as well ASAP

Two thoughts:
1. Hewitt called John and Ken ( KFI radio, LA) a " couple of pot bangers". This is because they found and revealed information about illegal immigration.
2. Hewitt accepts the Bureaucratic Motto: " We can't do that".
Bureaucrats are minor politicians. Jeb is a major politician. If you DO SOMETHING, you can be criticized.
It was easier to blame judges.

I listened to Hugh. I was disappointed at him also. I wonder what he would have been doing had he lived in Germany during the rise of Hitler.

You don't have to be a brain surgeon to understand that JEB put his political career ahead of the life of Terri. He's gutless.

I, too, was disappointed in Hugh's comments in this regard. He placed the rule of law above that of the justice it seeks to implement. I don't think anyone believes that laws implement perfect justice, but in cases where it is blantantly causing an injustice, do we just shrug our shoulders and say the rule of law must prevail?

These situations are not common, as we have many safeguards built into our laws to prevent such injustices, but in extreme and rare cases, those safeguards fail. It is absurd to say that such events would become common place. If they were common, the rule of law would suffer, and that would be a bad thing.

I think the executive should step in, under such rare cases, and bring justice where the laws fail to do so. The executive is completely restrained in engaging in such action, by the legislature's impeachment power, and the voter's will.

Wow. I'm surprised that Hugh puts the judges on such a pedestal. I don't get the guy's show here, but based on the threads I'e read over the years, I thought he was smarter than that. This country is no longer a nation of laws - - it has become a nation of judges.

Many people are offended that Terri is being starved to death, as am I. Florida law really does allow this to be done to people. So this is not why Jeb would step in.

Whether or not the law has been correctly applied in Terri's case is why Jeb would step in, i.e. is Terri truly in a condition that qualifies her to be killed under Florida law.
