Did you pull the shoe yourself or have a farrier come? I don't know if they all are, but my farrier brags that he is particularly good at finding and relieving abscesses that even vets didn't find.

Abscessed feet are really debilitating, incredibly painful, and yet the moment the pressure gets relieved, it's over.

Pulled the shoe myself. Filed the nails down and pulled em one at the time to try to gauge if any one nail was the culprit. I think the nails were ok. Called my farrier and he said that if there was an abscess that there would be heat in the hoof. No heat. But I did see a little red line on the hoof wall. I'm thinking that he caught a rock just right. It's purdy rocky around my place. Big rocks, little rocks, jagged rocks, smooth rocks.
