Pulled the shoe myself. Filed the nails down and pulled em one at the time to try to gauge if any one nail was the culprit. I think the nails were ok. Called my farrier and he said that if there was an abscess that there would be heat in the hoof. No heat. But I did see a little red line on the hoof wall. I'm thinking that he caught a rock just right. It's purdy rocky around my place. Big rocks, little rocks, jagged rocks, smooth rocks.

I've never pulled a shoe myself. Haven't had to, but I have watched the farrier take off the clinches so that I would know how.
