Bob has marked off a distance of 5mi, 10mi and 15mi along the road here. I don't mean marked off as in a marker but where he recognizes the place. He and Tracey and a friend train that way part of the time.
Your ride is going to be more grueling than just an endurance ride, you have the various obstacles to deal with too don't you? That takes a lot out of the rider especially in nerves.

Yeah, most times I loose points because of me not the horses. I don't like people watching me do stuff:)
The factor about the May ride that can be a problem is the humidity. It can be bad that time of year. You have to really have a well conditioned horse in humid conditions.
I know approximate distances around here too. My mare always walked 3 miles an hour, 20 minute miles. I could almost get exact by timing with her.
