Don't breed SL until you know you'll have a place to put her on before the baby is born. She'll need extra feed and nutrients the last three months - then you want her to have a safe place to get out with the baby, where she doesn't have to worry about protecting it or fighting off other mares.

HMM Good point. I was just thinking after she was born so I had backup. It would be hard to manage her diet. I would have to stable her. No firm date yet though. I just said Feb to indcate next year. I didn't want to say april or may because someone might have thought I meant this year.

I'm trying to talk my 3 sons into going in with us for a larger piece of property and setting up a "compound":') My husband keeps giving me these "are you crazy" looks but land is an investment and if someone there they can watch the animals if we are out of town.
