It's at the Kentucky Horse Park. If you ever get a chance to come East, you have to go there. A museum, horses, trail rides, carriage rides, gift shop, parade of breeds...everything horse. Cross country courses, indoor and outdoor arenas for shows. In Lexington, horse farms all around.
Maybe someday. I loved the pics:'). I've only been to Kentucky once and we were high tailing it to Chicago. I think we stopped and ate there at a catfish rest. on the water. Might have been Indiana though.
BTW Cowboy, I hated Gatlinburg...way too congested. Never thought at this time of year it would be. But, I sure did love that casino in Cherokee. :')
I was there four years or so ago. I was lucky becuse everything was on clearance in the giftshop ;-) They were trying to sell as much of this year's stock as they could before ordering new stuff. I brought home all kinds of stuff. I really would like to get down there again. The Kentucky Horse Park is like a Disney World for horse people. lol. However, I don't think that I would make the trek just to go there. Something else would have to be there too. Maybe the Derby.
I'll let you know. They're switching vets, though because he's being very lax about the whole thing, and not very responsible. Coming out when no one is around the farm and "claiming" to give innoculations, and when they called about the strangles results a few days later, when he didn't call back, the secretary said that they were "in the truck with the vet". Maybe I'm wrong, but something stinks. Apparently his record keeping is rotten too, because Teddy's (the arab) strangles vaccine isn't on file either. So either he never got it, or it never got written down. And they had to call the vet three times before someone would look at the hives attack. It happened in a space of 20 minutes. The poor horse just blew up. His face ended up being so swollen that his halter was cutting into it.
Did you ride in the park or someplace else?
Did the owners give any meds before the vet saw them? The hives and swelling sound like an allergic reaction. My owner though Okie had strangles too but the house vet said no.
I wish my vet had been in town. He has never saw a lab or culture he doesn't like:')
I had an e mail when I got back from someone close by that is in my Texas chapter that wants to get people together in this area to start trail riding. Sounds like fun.
I've seen pictures of a horse from the middle east or far east or something, but never had one like this.
thank you - what a gorgeous drive and cabin.
It sounds like whatever the horses got at your barn is some nasty stuff. A new vet might be a good thing.
I am still wore out. We left Pigeon Forge, Tenn. at 8:30, drove to the Horse Park, spent time there and got home at 11:30...whew! I had to eat Dristans the whole trip. My sinus were really acting up.
Did you get any snow this past weekend? When I called my daughter, she said they had 9 inches on Sunday.
Where's your daughter from? It's been beautiful all week, which is really saying something. :-)
Nope, not that I'm aware of. It sounded like a reaction to something to me, but she said that he didn't get anything prior.
That sounds like a lot of fun!
How's Bob's knee?
HMM. I though maybe they might have had two problems. A sick horse who had a reaction to meds or something. Some bad horse stuff going around, it seems.
After two days of reviewing every known disease to man my brain in hyperdrive with the what ifs :')
