This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Cool - they've bonded.
It'll be really interesting to see what color she sheds out, and if the leg marking stays unusual. It doesn't look all that unusual to me, but it's hard to see in the pics. When you're out, take some more! For a bay, she's very mocha-chocolate colored, as opposed to the more common red color like ours and I'm curious what color she's gonna end up.
How's your weather today?
Is the baby's leg ok?
Her legs seem to be fine, although her shoulders are still back too far. That should straighten out though.
Thank you - her ears turn in at the top :) and I don't know why that is either.
She wasn't lined up . Maybe they were pinned and will straighten out. If not, I like them though. Have you seen other horses with ears like this?
Cigar
Hooray thank you. I saw him in his stall, and got to see more of his butt than his face! :-)
That was in reply to the cigar post. How did you like the Horse Park? It was off season when I went, so there wasn't much in the gift shop or anything, and there weren't really any events like the horse handling, but there were horses, and that's all that matters!
My trainer and I don't believe this is Rhino. Horses are getting sick whether they were innoculated or not. All start recovering with antibiotics but it's taking a long time to get their strength back. I wormed them today and the vet coming out next week to immz them again. The owner thinks this is a bad cold or just some kind of resp. bug going around. I just don't think it is viral though .
Those poor horses. Let me know what they find out, ok? Okie physically better but still doesn't have his energy back and picky with his food but he does put his head down now. I question that he walks steady too. It's like his lower left back leg a little wobbly . Eddie got behind him and couldn't see what I thought I was seeing so maybe nothing though.
This statue of Secretariat was new and so cool.
Where is this at?
