I was hungry;
And you took out my feeding tube.
I was thirsty;
And you let me die.
I could not speak,
so you silenced me.
I asked for a trial
And you sentenced me to death.
I was the evidence you supressed,
As you spit in my face.


May God be with Terri and her family as they continue to fight for her rights.

Good afternoon, Darks.

Hope you and your cuddly kitten had a great Cuddly Kitten Day!

Dark Nights

He said he’d be with her “Til Death do us part.”
I don’t think she quite realized,
She couldn’t see in the depths of his heart,
One day she’d somehow be despised.

She didn't know what she was in for,
She had too much of living to share.
She didn’t seem one who would come to Death’s door,
Til the day he escorted her there.

She’d become his own living albatross,
The “dark nights” just kept slipping on by.
He determined, regardless of who felt the loss,
He would only be free if she’d die.

Though it made him appear just the worst kind of cad,
And the nation implored him to stop.
He was given the power to do something bad,
That he stubbornly wouldn’t let drop.

One has to wonder what is there in his heart,
If there is any room there at all.
The dog in the manger can now give up his part.
Lord, why did this girl have to fall?

I've not frequented anything today not having to do with Terri -- but just seeing this G'morning ping again (quickly looked at 6AM) has me a bit more light hearted. Thanks all of you for a bit of relaxation today.

I am going to try to sign off soon for the day.

I've not posted much today, but with the information I've heard here and on radio, more and more I am convinced that Terri is being wronged -- I will never understand why HINO will not remand custody to her parents, unless he is worried she could recover and rat him out.

It will forever disturb me that Michael S. didn't bring to anyone's attention Terri's "wishes" "not to live this way" until after his seven years of working to get insurance money "to take care of her forever." Seems a mite strange to me that he forgot her wishes throughout that seven years.

MS -- the HINO -- is clearly not credible in MY court (if I had one... )

Somehow that one item goes to the whole heart of this case, and it seems to me that anything he has advocated or stated about Terri is wrong to admit as evidence. The fact that Judge Greer has not struck all such evidence, and never sought independent advice and fresh, modern testing on Terri's behalf leads me to believe he is not viewing this case with dispassion, and has become too strongly invested in her death by now to hear this case.

I honestly don't know what the outcome of such testing would be, but it seems very wrong to disallow it in the face of all the suggestive testimony that the other side has brought to the table, but that he has repeatedly struck. A new judge is needed - to save Greer from a place he has gotten himself into that he really can't budge from now.

I'm also disturbed by other FReepers personal anecdotes about their relatives being tantamount to killed by neglect in various senior and hospital facilities.


The funny thing is, that if HINO's supporters REALLY wanted THE COUP in this case, that they ought to graciously allow Terri's parents to take custody -- banking on their absolute faith that she'll always be a vegetable in decline -- and wait for the day the parents themselves ask the court for the right to end her life. Then they'll really be able to say, "we told you so".



I don't know how I'll handle her now probable death -- it is an incredibly disturbing time for me.

And for me. Terri was the first person I thought of this morning. I'm a mother and I can't even begin to imagine what her parents are going through. How horrible to know that your child is being intentionally starved to death and to be helpless to stop it.

President Bush summed up my feeling about this, we should always err on the side of life.

I'm glad you responded. I really want to go, but feel the need for some cuddling and closure today somehow. I'm only going to find it in prayer though it's so hard to pray now about this.

... verses keep going through my mind these last several days, and I quoted them to my daughter yesterday -- behold those who have eyes and see not ... those who have ears and see not ...

I'm going to open The Book and read those whole chapters tonight. I hope they can provide some settlement for me, but I fear they won't.
