Pulse Poll
Is it time for the Dixie Chicks to return to Lubbock radio? Yes, it is. No, it isn't.
They were famous because a label decided to market them as a free-wheeling fun group of girls who could sing and play and have a great time.
When the fat one decided to suddenly change their image to shrill, know-nothing, loud-mouth, whinging, America-hating, free speech martyrs, the audience moved on.
They got stroked by the liberal media, which probably felt nice for a while, but liberals don't "do" country. So now they have no career left. And liberal "atta girls" don't pay for mansions, limos, world travel and five star hotels.
They can fiddle on their porch, sip herbal tea, and curse the fates.
The Fat One needs to take a lesson from her dad. Lloyd Maines is a legendary guitarist and indy music producer here in Texas. I've heard him perform many times, and have no idea what his political views are.
My local country station won't play Dixie Chicks songs, but a couple of the others in nearby markets occasionally will play them. When one of their songs does come on my radio, I change the channel.
How about after a sincere, heartfelt apology - if that's even possible.
Who?
I am listening to THE BEAR country station and people are telling them they will switch over to KLLL because they will not play the chicks...............
SO Lubbock does not want Dixie Chicks here... I would love to see them come for a concert and there be more outside the arena protecting them than anyone in the seats.
Everyone can vote at http://kcbd.com/
Or if inclined... call 806-770-5276 and tell them you would not listen. Lubbock is the home of Natalie Maines and WE DON'T CLAIM HER AT ALL... Slime....
One of our rock stations still plays the cocaine song they redid, but none of the country stations here will play them at all; works for me/us.
No, can't stand them, don't want them!! They are drifting away anyways. They screwed themselves big time!
The correct figure is 1,352 per The Lovin' Spoonful.
Why in the world would we want Saddam's Sluts back on the airwaves?
No they made their choices and now they can live with the results. They have had their shot and their fame. They and only they are responsible for their trouble. They brought it on themselves.
Ummmmm, tasty. Deeply fried Dixie Chicks.
...which is precisely how a musician should be.
LOL! That's in 1967 dollars. There's well over 5,000 pickers in Nashville after adjusting for inflation.
Dixie Chick fans will start in Dallas, travel to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, back to Houston and down to Brownsville on the border. They'll proceed up to Del Rio, on to El Paso then to Midland, Odessa, Lubbock and Amarillo. They turn back east to Abilene, Fort Worth and Dallas.
Each person will be driving a pink Volvo with a bumper sticker that reads: "I'm gay. I'm a vegetarian. I voted for Al Gore. I love the Dixie Chicks. Your BBQ sucks, and the Alamo was a waste of time. I want Hillary in 2004, and I'm here to confiscate your guns!"
The contestant that makes it back to Dallas, alive, wins.
I would fiddle with two of them.
Yes, it is. 24%
No, it isn't. 76%
Of course not all friends of Nashville mothers will necessarily play "clean as country water," "wild as mountain dew," or be able to "pick more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee anthill," and some Nashville mothers may have guitar pickin' friends in common, but we haven't even begun to apportion pickers to women without children.
