Aw, heck, Jean. I spend all day in between work stints checking out the serious political stuff, and sometimes even doing something about it.

I enjoy this, and I'm glad the chat threads are on FR because when there's something going on of a lighter nature, Freepers are the folks I prefer to discuss it with. I've checked out the discussion boards of various TV shows that I have an interest in, and none of them approach the savvy and lively intelligence of FR. Even the 24 board is somewhat elementary politically, and the American Idol boards are just hopeless., Here, we have a common foundation from which to start, and the conversation is much more enjoyable, and 98% of the time, a lot less frustrating.

I can't tell you how nice it is not to have to explain the 2000 election to the uninformed during a casual, nonserious conversation. I'm pleased to do that, of course, and have on non-FR boards, but it's time-consuming when all you want to do is relax a little.

Didn't the Supreme Court give Bush the election?
Gore got more votes, doesn't he deserve the election?
Isn't this nothing more than a police state? Wouldn't we be better off under that nice man Saddam and his freedom fighters.
