Check your mail and I agree with you. Do you think Bo will pick the druggie and doper votes?

John Stevens has that wonderful rich quality to his voice and I was always impressed that he stuck to his kind of music no matter what the judges said.

Harry Connick Jr is one of my favorites!

That comment from Simon was very good I thought.

I liked what Wolfstar posted regarding Simon's comments about one of the reasons for Scott's appeal.

They were dead on in my opinion.

You've hit on it exactly about Scott. All of the others seem somehow a little plastic and not as real.

Bo is a rocker because, frankly, he doesn't have the voice for anything else. What Bo does, he does well, but really he's nothing special.

Constantine has the better voice, but he reminds me of Justin Guarini from the first season -- all show and no heart. More than anything, I think that's why he got the boot.

Vonzell and Carrie remind me more of Miss America contestants doing the obligatory talent segment. Anthony is the same as the two girls, except from a male perspective.

Only Scott brings a true sense of his heart -- and his pain -- to his music. Is he the most talented? Heck no. Should he have gone before Constantine? Sure. Will he likely have a career after AI? The odds are against him. But he does bring an honesty to his music that seems to touch a chord in many people.

Got your mail. Wow that was pretty stunning! Clearly bathing has never been a big priority for him. :-)

Yes, most definitely, Bo will get the druggie votes. Too bad about the votes he will lose here by those who won't vote for anyone who ever got arrested. /sarcasm

I wish I had seen the first season of AI. I missed the second one as well.

That's a good analogy about Vonzelle, Carrie and Anthony doing the talent portion of a pagent. That's cute.

I really like Anthony's voice. It has a pleasing quality to me.

Maybe Scott will be able to get a recording contract with one of those companies that is geared towards the rappers and urban music. He is good, but he's not the best left here.

Even though I am a Scott fan, I know it's time for him to go, but I hope he can find a way to support himself musically.

As you said, he brings his pain and his life to his music. That is always compelling in my opinion.

Dod you all see this? Is this what you're talking about?? BYE-BYE BO!!!

APRIL 28--One of the five remaining "American Idol" finalists was once arrested for felony cocaine possession, but had the charge--and a separate marijuana count--dismissed last year after completing a so-called "diversion program," The Smoking Gun has learned.

Harold "Bo" Bice, 29, was busted in June 2001 by Huntsville, Alabama cops and hit with the drug count, a Class C felony, according to the below warrant. He was arrested again in July 2003 near Birmingham and charged with marijuana possession, public intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to the latter two misdemeanors in December 2004. The pot charge was dismissed after Bice's successful completion of the same diversion program that covered his prior cocaine bust. In that 2001 case, a District Court preliminary hearing was set for August 29, but when a Huntsville Police Department investigator did not show, Judge Susan Moquin dismissed the Bice case, according to a court docket.

But with prosecutors prepared to refile the felony count, Bice later opted to enter a drug diversion program overseen by the district attorney's office, according to Heather Douglas, spokesperson for the Madison County D.A.

Bice formally entered the diversion program in 2003 following his pot arrest, and the two separate drug possession charges were effectively merged and covered by Bice's diversion program, according to a TSG source familiar with the cases (the cocaine charge was bounced on April 28, 2004, and the pot rap was dismissed five months ago).

Bice was arrested on the cocaine charge after scoring about 1/2 a gram of the drug from an acquaintance at Huntsville's Silver Dollar strip club, according to a source.

If convicted of the felony coke charge, Bice would have faced a maximum of 10 years in jail, though a probationary term would have been more likely. While details of what Bice had to do in the diversion program are confidential, enrollees usually must submit to urine tests, undergo drug counseling, and attend awareness classes. Bice, who worked at the time in a Huntsville bar, is a long-haired rocker whose gritty appearance and performances have stood out from "American Idol"'s usual pop pablum.

Thx for posting that...it's proof that BO HAS GOT TO GO!!!

And all the bad things people on here said about Constantine. At least Con doesn't have a rap sheet.

Can you answer something for me.

In that 2001 case, a District Court preliminary hearing was set for August 29, but when a Huntsville Police Department investigator did not show, Judge Susan Moquin dismissed the Bice case, according to a court docket.

That would be the cocaine charge. Isn't it unusual for the police rep to NOT show, for a felony charge, knowing the case would then be dismissed? I find that VERY odd.

I find that very odd too. Did money change hands with the cop? It's been known to happen. Does the Bice family have some power and influence in Huntsville?

Good for the prosecutors who refiled the charges.

I'm getting a bit disgusted at the coverup by American Idol producers.

With Scott, the incident happened a while back, and all it was was a domestic dispute.

Cocaine charges are much more serious. Bo got off with a slap on the wrist.

I don't always buy these "born-again" stories.

OK--so the producers knew. Guess thay thought it didn't matter. What is this show...America's Favorite Punk?

From mtv.com:

Twenty-nine-year-old Bice, widely considered a favorite to win the fourth season of "American Idol" (see " 'American Idol' Recap: Anthony Tugs Heartstrings, Pulls Off Celine Dion"), will continue to compete.

"The information disclosed on various salacious gossip Web sites regarding Bo Bice's past was already well-known to FOX and the producers of 'American Idol,' " a show spokesperson said in a statement. "From the beginning, Bo was honest and forthcoming in revealing his previous indiscretions and their outcome."
*******

Hah! Are we a "salacious gossip website?"

Yep. That's what we have been talking about. It was posted on this thread earlier today.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/1393158/posts?q=1&&page=1

It sounds like it was deferred because of the diversion program he entered, so it's technically not a conviction, even though he pled guilty in December 2004. At least that's what I'm getting from that jumble of information on the smoking gun. Someone wrote that in a big hurry.

There is no way he could have hidden something like that from the AI people since it was only 4 months ago.

Thx for posting that...it's proof that BO HAS GOT TO GO!!!

I think its ok for Scott and Bo to stay. They both seem to have turned to God and changed their lives around.

What has to go is all the dissing of Scott now that Bo has a felony record. His cocaine case may have been dismissed BUT we know he was guilty.

Both Scott and Bo were honest with the AI producers about their pasts. This is a country based on opportunity and as far as I know we haven't stopped allowing people to have second chances in life after having made mistakes.

Both have fallen in the past, and both have gotten up and are trying to change their lives around, they didn't stay fallen in the gutter.

Future comments about Scott in this thread are going to be VERY interesting and revealing.

I'm not sure just how much we should be willing to accept regarding arrests. Do we also accept rapists, murders, as long as they have good voices? I just don't know where the line should be drawn.

Maybe the producers of AI should highlight these arrests and the changes these people have made in their lives, to show that people can change and overcome adversity, rather than trying to pull a fast one on the public by hiding the arrests.

Oh I hate that you missed season 2. To me it was by far the best season of AI. Very talented group of people. And I will get flamed for this but I loved Ruben. He has the Luther Vandross sound to him. I loved Clay too, he has pure talent. I have both of their CD's as well as the season 2 CD. Haven't cared to buy any of the other seasons.

Not if the investigator is at another more violent offender's trial. Sometimes these trials are at the same time and they have to choose or the d.a. on the case didn't get the info. to the investigator. However, last night on the local affiliate they had the story. One person said Bo took the rap for a family member who had a record.(which if he did that was not helping his family member) Also his preacher from his church was on and said that Bo is not perfect but that he has turned his life around completely.
