Go to post 1147...
He gives me the creepy shivers!
Big Boy Scott singing now. I like his singing. Losing te tone though tonight.
I will probably get flame-broiled for saying this, but I heard a Barry Manilow song on the 70's station last weekend that I think Bo could hit out of the park. "Could This Be The Magic"--I'd love to hear that with Bo's rock voice...minus the orchestra, plus an electric guitar!
Nikko, the young black guy who was voted off a few weeks back, reminded me of a young Sammy Davis Jr. Maybe the producers were looking for the retro style?!
How can I do that? I see on my screen 1-50, then 4000-4050. There is no quick way to get to 1147. I'd have to scroll thru a thousand posts at 50 at a time. Why can't you just tell me what it says?
I REMEMBER THAT SONG! It's funnier now that I get it. (I was just a little kid.)
"That could leave Vonzell, Anthony and Lt. Dan on the bottom."
Think you may be right about that. I voted for Vonzell just to keep her in the competition, though I wasn't impressed with her song tonight. She has a very good voice (though she could use some work on the bridge between her middle voice and head voice -- too much break there) but although she is charming, she is always on the "safe" side with her performances. I think the judges are looking for a "dangerous," exciting performance. We've seen precious little of that in this entire competition!
I was, to my surprise, somewhat impressed by Anthony tonight, though not enough to vote for him. Best performance I've seen from him.
As for Constantine, both he and Bo better learn to pick "singer" songs before they get booted! These monotonous one-octave songs are not going to win them any votes. I have a feeling that only their solid fan bases of 13-year-old girls voted for either of them tonight.
I thought Carrie sang the best tonight, and she seemed just on the verge of a really exciting, breakout performance ... but something keeps holding her back. (Probably her own notion of herself as a "good girl.") That hesitancy I see in her every week will keep her from becoming a real star, unless she manages to get rid of it ... even if she does win this competition.
She was not beaten to a bloody pulp. He hit her in the chest with a phone.
Big difference.
This used to be my favorite thread, but there sure is a lot of meaness on here now.
Not just your post. Lots of other people's posts also.
Netizen, I just saw your other post and now I see that you were just being facetious.
I thought it was strange to see that out of you since you and I had discussed this same thing recently.
I'm very sorry I snapped at you like that.
I love Anthony also. He did great tonight.
I have always loved to watch Paula dance. I have absolutely zero talent for dancing, but love to watch good dancers.
Paula was definitely one of the best choreographers during that time. I wonder if she does much of that anymore.
Opposites Attract is a fun video. It was really cute.
You reminded me of the Coke commercial that she did awhile back. Wasn't she dancing with Gene Kelly in that one? From old videos of him?
I'm glad you got so many votes in for Anthony tonight. I didn't get home early enough to vote and had to watch it on TIVO.
He really did well tonight.
I think I recall that one too. Is that the one where she had to lose some weight? It just seems like she was having a weight problem at that time.
Yeah, I think you're right. She had gained some weight, enough to get really trashed in Hollywood, but not enough for most of us to notice.
I always thought she looked just fine. But I guess a dancer has to be really lean.
I think she is very muscular and muscle weighs more than fat. Its been so long ago, but it just seems like it had something to do with a 'lift'.
In case you didn't go to post 1147, Anwar has a membership on a website for gay men.
His profile was posted. I think that's what's on 1147 anyway.
That's what "outed" him.
It wasn't trashy or anything, just a picture and some likes and dislikes I think.
I heard that she and Randy are still working on her new CD. I hope she does some videos too.
She was never the best singer, but she was good enough I thought.
I'd buy one of her CDs again.
See, that's just it. You don't have to have the best or the most clear voice to make it big. But you need to appeal to a wide range of people. The guys flinging their long hair around while the gals with long hair don't, says a lot!
Bo Bice - man, I just think Bo kicks ass. He actually has the most limited voice in the group. No top, and his natural vocal register would be classified as baritone. That's cool - Elvis would have been considered a baritone, too. But what the dude does with what he has is very entertaining, and he makes up for not having the best vocal range, for already perhaps having a little wear and tear on his cords, by being totally invested in everything he sings. My stupid comparison from the part of the singing world I'm most familiar with, opera, is Placido Domingo. (Guarantee you that's the only time you'll see Domingo and Bo Bice mentioned in the same paragraph.) Domingo never had the clarion high notes of a Pavarotti... there were and are tenors out there who can out-sing Placido up in the stratosphere for days. But that didn't matter - he was Domingo. He used everything else he had; vocal quality, musicality, pitch, emotion, honesty. Bo Bice as a rock singer does the same thing; he doesn't try to be the next Robert Plant - he's Bo, and he puts his stamp on every song. He has a good ear for what fits him most of the time too. He will need to avoid the usual rock singer pitfalls if he wants to keep singing into his 40s - smoke, smoking, too much drinking, lack of rest, bad PA systems that don't give him proper monitors and force him to shout.
