I still can't get through to Carrie's line.
I hope that's a good sign.

I've heard the Nickleback song quite a bit on the radio and Lt. Dan's version was AWFUL.

My phone calls are going through much faster than my posts. The second call went through quick, too.

I thought it was telling that Randy kept saying, "This show is about picking the best talent in America." (Gee, we wouldn't know that from some of the mediocre talent they've had on, esp. last season.) These guys feel the hot breath of the ABC hitsquad special waiting to "expose" them.

You'd think these kids would do better given the theme, but after the top two, disappointments abound this week. My rankings:
- Bo -- He still loses points in my book for not singing challenging enough material, but what he did sing was spot-on and paired with an impressive stage performance. (Even though I still want him to leave the poor microphone stand alone...) Question: he'd be a pretty good live show to go to, but is his voice good enough to listen to for an entire album?
- Anthony -- Choosing a power ballad played right into his strengths, and with the exeption of a missed note here and there, it was well-delivered. He didn't look so much like a dork this week and for most of the song, I forgot all about the whole "boy band" thing. Anthony's best overall perfromance to date.
- Carrie -- A bit of a toss-up at 3 & 4 here. Carrie gets the higher nod because her singing was technically better, though it was a "safe" song that she nonetheless didn't sound great on, mostly due to trying to force a "gravelly" sound. She at least looked a little better up there this week.
- Vonzelle -- Give her credit for always choosing the tough song, but she failed to deliver it this time. I had to re-watch to be sure, and the beginning was actually better than I first thought, but the middle was a mess. I expect much better from Vonzelle, but this puts her into a dangerous position since I don't think she has the solid fan base that others have.
- Constantine -- Time for the dreaded "U"-word... unconvincing. Even I know the original well enough to know that this paled in comparison, and really lost Lt. Dan any momentum he might have had from the last few weeks.
- Scott -- Please let Simon be right about packing his bags... this was awful. He missed every one of the isolated high notes. His voice was mostly weak and thin. And he looked like a zombie. Please put him out of my misery now.
Flame on...

I'm surprised Con didn't do way better! I'm starting to suspect that the producers tell a different contestant each week to throw the fight, er, turn in a mediocre performance, sing a song that no one connects with....like this week, it was Con's turn to take a fall.

I don't feel like this show has the BEST talent. It never has. The best talent has already been scooped up by record companies. The reason being that the best talent is already working the system to get a record contract. The best talent doesn't need this method. I'm not saying the folks on here aren't talented - they really are, definitely more so than me. But, this is not the usual breakthrough method.

House is great.... I liked the scene between Dr. House and the kid. Showing his empathetic and fatherly side.
The kid looks like a young Lou Diamond Phillips. I'll have to check the end credits and see if his last name is Phillips.

No flame--I agree with you 100% this week, except I would've switched #2 with #3.
Scott ... Please put him out of my misery now.
LOL! Amen to that.

Yea, I have suspected producer manipulation since last year. I didn't watch season 1 or 2 so can only go by what I've seen. I can hear it tommorow "Shocking Results Tonight" Blah Blah...... I'm Hooked! LOL!

I didn't recognize any of the song choices tonite. But then, I've been hanging on talk radio and FR for the past five years...I didn't even recognize the Martina McBride song, and I follow country music!
