Corin, I've run across nasty spyware programs that write themselves to the registry and reload at each boot up. Unless you delete them from the registry they won't go away.

I use Hijack This, a free download that scans the registry and gives you a log of the files that are there and will delete whatever files you like.

I always print the log file to a word file then copy and paste suspected entries into google and see what I can find out. If I find it's a hijacker or spyware I delete it.

****Follow the directions to the letter becuase deleting the wrong files from the registry can cause serious operating problems.*****

This was the only way I killed a vicious new spyware file my system was infected with. It took Adaware and Spybot 3 weeks to show a fix for it in their updates.
