I'm pretty sure it's psoriasis. My little brother has it and it just covers his entire body. He's done chemo and everything, trying to get rid of it. My mom also has it, not as bad on her skin, but she developed psoriatic arthritis and it just crippled her hands. They both take twice weekly injections of Enbrel and from what I understand it helps a little.
Both of them were without any sypmtoms until they were given steroids. Both of them had it manifest after they got that dose. It's called a "trigger" and in their case it was the steroid.
I fear in Joshua's case it is the same, since he's had trouble ever since he was born and they gave me steroids when I lost my hearing when I was 8 months pregnant. I apparently don't carry the gene or whatever that causes psoriasis, but I fear Joshua does.
I've never had him diagnosed. There's no cure and it's not bad enough and he's not old enough to start trying things out on him. It seemed that the more my brother and mom tried, the worse it got for them. I'll opt for the conservative approach until he gets a little older or things start getting really bothersome.
But I grow closer and closer to taking him to the doctor. The only thing is, if I just take him to our regular doctor, I suspect I know more about the topic than he does. I want a specialist seeing Joshua, which is easier said than done.
I'd like to take him to cut his hair for Easter, but I need to explain to the barber first not to force the comb through his hair.
