If there's no fee, it's a good thing to have on hand, especially when you're on the road. You can pay for everything with it, so you don't have to worry about having too much cash on hand. Heck, even McD's takes credit cards in some places now!

Most gas stations along the interstates now allow you to pay at the pump with a credit card. We found that most stations ONLY allow that at night-time, which is when I drive on long trips.

My debit card works as a credit card, though...so unless I run out of cash, I don't need a real credit card. I use my debit card for groceries, gas, and any time I don't have cash.

I got my credit card because I didn't have much credit history. What with buying and selling a house...I'm guessin' that counts for a lot more than a credit card would.

The only reason I can think of for keeping it is for times when I need money suddenly and don't have cash on hand, i.e. if I suddenly needed to fly out due to a family emergency. I could see keeping it for that IF there's no fee.

Guess I gotta call and find out, but I'm dreading it as they always try to talk ya into additional services and plans. Ugh.
