New verse:

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Makes me smile. :-)
This from the skipper of Mahdi(which was 100 feet away), a guy retired from the US Navy. A good thing he was aboard, IMO. Yeah, they were lucky enough. I'd of been scared silly.
A couple guys on the thread were talking about Dragon's Breath rounds...such a thing sounds like fun, if you don't set the front lawn on fire. 300winmag probably knows about those things.
Did you find anything out of interest about the 2 yachts?
Is that the incendiary stuff for 12ga? I've heard of such things but never fired any.
Might be useful... especially at close range. But there were a couple of comments on that thread that were dead-on, especially regarding the utility of shotguns v. rifles when trying to shoot offhand from a rocking boat at other boat, bobbing in the swell.
It's really tough to be accurate at any sort of distance at all, shooting from a rocking platform at another moving target. There's a place for a shotgun... or a full-auto rifle. The thing I liked about shooting full-auto on water was the ability to aim low and walk the splashes up into the target. Easy to do, even if things are rocking and rolling around a bit.
The the guys that were talking about a fine scope-sighted .308 seemed to me to be landlubbers, IMHO. A scope at sea is just not a useful device.
I found the same, or basically similar, story posted on a few different sites. Some other forums claimed members that knew the participants. Looks like it was a credible story from what I could see.
He he...I love my little car.
I love spending time with Steve working on it. We just have so little time together, that this just seems to be a fun way to be together and it does't cost anything.
Thanks Hair...I sure enjoy it. I've learned so much!
Maybe I'll take an auto mechanics class...hmmm....
Yeah, an incendiary for 12 gauge...I think if you used it on a deer you would get your venison already cooked. The descriptions of the things have me curious.
I used to carry an AR-15 and a 12 gauge pump w/ 8 rnd mag when cruising the islands, the AR to hold them at arm's length and the pump for up close. Had a lever action in .35 too that shot 200 grain bullets. 'Course, if I thought I was really going to have to use that stuff, I'd have stayed at home. But it's no good not being prepared, and in those days, back in the '80's, the USCG Notice to Mariners advised all yachts cruising the Bahamas to be armed.
Yes, I note that the guy who recommende a scope didn't get answered. As far as I know, us civilians are not allowed full auto, and I'm pretty sure also that foreign countries think the same.
Good evening everyone! I'm all ready for my farm sitter to show up... the back storage area has become a guest room again, the house is relatively tidy, the barn's all clean and stocked with feed, the fridge is all stocked with teenager food. :~D And I'm beat! I pick her up tomorrow morning at the airport and then I'm on vacation. She's gonna be here nearly two days before we leave, so she can ride and get to know the horses while I'm still here. I'm gonna consider that part of my vacation :~D
Good that she'll be there a couple days first.
Quite a few of the cruising sites have much the same story, plus I see discussions of it on various forums.
Hey... I'm gonna be at the airport in the morning... what time will you be there?
I'm so glad that's settled! I was gonna ask if you'd tried asking the vet if he could recommend anyone. :-D
Her flight comes in at 9:30... Metting her at baggage claim.
It's a pretty fun adventure for her, and I'll feel pretty good having her here.
Wow, be sure to introduce us to the horse-sitter!
I'm now getting Rosie's mail but my own seems to be missing.
Heheheheh.
You just gotta love that.
WRT automatic weapons... except for the necessity of really alarming amounts of ammunition... I did like the one recommendation that people pick up a cheap AK once ported in some place that sells them. Then just plunk it overboard if you have to land somewhere it would be a problem.
You're mean...
