I believe they've been around for about 25 years, mostly as a 'Tech School', but they're now offering a Bachelor's degree along with the previously offered Associates Degree. On the website, they have a list of companies who have hired their graduates, including the one for which SSQ works. I'd be interested to talk to a few grads to find out their experiences when they moved from the school to the world of work; whether or not they had difficulty getting jobs without the 'traditional university' degree. I guess, though, with the computer world having grown the way in has in the last 10 years, folks have to start thinking in new ways about the education someone needs to do Software Engineering, etc. Do they need the full on Liberal Arts degree, or would a core curriculum in Liberal Arts going for two years, then two years of the 'major' work in their computer degree field be sufficient?

I guess since we started homeschooling, actually, even before then, SSQ began questioning the validity of the typical four year Liberal Arts degree and whether it was always necessary. Not everyone is going to be a doctor, lawyer or teacher. Counter-culture, I know, but why not "think outside the box" as folks are so fond of saying these days.

Hmmm. I'll let her know! Does the school offer Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Science, as a major?

And you start wearing white shoes at Eastertide, for church.

I don't know where this "no white shoes before Memorial Day" thing came from. Growing up in S. MS, we always got new white shoes for Easter to go along with our new dresses!

I could go barefoot... or in street shoes. Either solutions looks really bad up with the choir.

I took off my shoes and sttod in my stocking feet during the Tenebrae Service the other night. Couldn't see being in heels, since we'd be standing almost the whole time. We were up in the Choir Loft in the back of the Church so no one could see my feet anyway! ;o)

No clue about the majors but I bet the website - colostate.edu - would give her a clue. Just saying she'd have two friends in the area already. And our anime club's great fun.

Glad you're backing me up on the shoes. I think it's a non-church rule anyway.

Whoa. Went to dinner with a friend who was driving and had two, count 'em, two margaritas. Now I'm seriously quite impaired.

Well, I think it's more like 'guidelines', anyway. ;o)

I once shot 6 rounds from a rented .44 mag and returned the gun and unused ammo.

heh... broke out the .44 with the utes... only two takers... the first kid is real aggressive... he did okay with 6 rounds... the next kid handed it back after two... the other four said no way... I proceeded to put the last four rounds into a milkjug at 60 yards...

Unless Easter comes a week early in Colorado, I don't see as how she's backin' you up. ;-)

Palm Sunday begins Eastertide. So there. Makes sense to my slightly-altered-state mind...

Well, that's a good point. I can say that I've used very little of my 4-year engineering degree in my career. It seems to me that a lot of employers in the computer field today are more interested in certifications and work experience than actual degrees.

No. The rule doesn't apply to sneakers.

I have boots... they're slip-on boots. What I wear usually. Not sure if they're quite the right thing...

G'night... Woke from a slightly drunken slumber to turn out the lights... see ya tomorrow. If I don't have a headache I wasn't really drunk, I guess.
